If this can be used as THWN, why do the specifications above say that it can NOT be used in an underground / outside / wet situation? I am looking for THWN which I can put inside PVC conduit which will be buried 18 inches deep. I have read that most THHN is also rated as THWN and can be used inside buried conduit... but is it seems this wire is not... or is it? If it is... then Home Depot should change the specifications above to say OK for wet outdoor use fwiw- I am installing/powering a single 110V LED light outside. The total run of wire will be less than 25 feet. I plan on pulling the same wire through conduit from the inside junction box all the way to the light outside, possibly with one box in the middle to make the pull easier. But the entire run will be in conduit. Thanks in advance for any help

THWN is not rated for underground wet situation. THWN-2 which we offer in 8 or 6 gauge is rated for wet or dry location. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

Does this include a hot, neutral and ground wire? Can I use it to feed a new outlet off an existing outlet?

Customer Reviews

50 ft. 12 White Solid THHN Wire is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Twenty four days shipping time and twenty feet short. I ordered three rolls of wire. It took 24 days and three calls to customer service to complete the order. One of the rolls was 20 feet shorter than the others, requiring another purchase to complete my project. Southwire is a terrible vendor but Home Depot customer service folks are very professional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Whitest Wire Ever! This stuff was fantastic for transmitting electricity from one point to another! It has insulation to prevent leakage along the way and is the code required size for what i was doing.
