12/200 wiring cable

Hi there, I need to know if I can just set up the cable over the landscaping without covering through any pvc pipeline. I need to install around 650 linear feet of cable in my backyard with no protection to the elements. let me know if this is ok please. thank you.
Asked by: RICK
this is direct bury cable and it is UV stabilized black, so no conduit required, however I have had rodents shewing on the energized wires if they are not buried. I also find that at that length of straight run, the last lights in the chain are not as bright as the ones closest to the transformer. I often will wire in a loop to avoid the dimming on the end.

Is this the correct wire to use for low voltage LED outdoor lights?

Is this the correct wire to use for low voltage LED outdoor lights?
Asked by: iamdunn4
If you will be running a long distance of wire, greater than 150 feet, I would use the 12/2 wire. If you are running a shorter distance the 14/2 should be fine.

Can this be suitable for inside use?

Asked by: Mark
Yes, suitable for inside use. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

This is the best 500 ft. 14-2 Black Stranded Landscape Lighting Cable ever! It's absolutely perfect because it's 500 feet of black-stranded 14-2 lighting cable! That's exactly what I wanted and it's exactly what I got! Oh my gosh! I couldn't be more happy! If I had purchased 500 feet of black stranded landscape lighting cable and it had turned out to be white or gray or purple I would have been really disappointed, but when I opened the clear plastic wrapping the cable underneath was totally black. It was awesome... Home Depot, why do you spam me with emails to rate everyday items? 14-2 lighting cable is 14-2 lighting cable. Nobody's really going to care if it was manufactured by Southwire or Isotec as long as it's rated for underground, low-voltage outdoor lighting, it's good enough.

It seems expensive to me but I am not an expert in wire. The wire itself is well insulated and comes on a metal spool which is nice because the product is 24 pounds,. I had no issues with laying it out on the ground as I was working on the layout. It did not curl or fight me. The vampire connectors that come with the lighting fixtures worked to pierce the wire 100% of the time. I had no problems with the wire at all. Note: I used all LED fixtures so I cannot comment on voltage drops. Although I used about 400 feet of cable my longest run was about 100 foot.

I did find it difficult to split the two wires apart whenever you are making connections. Be prepared to give your fingers a workout, even after making a starter cut to separate.
