Will this wire be able to handle 125 amps at 500ft? Do i just burry it as it is or does it have to be in conduit? If so what size?

Answer: 
It is recommended to use an Al SEU cable rather than the SER Cable. The SEU cable does not include a ground wire. The jacket and all wires are UV resistant for both SEU and SER cables.
Installation must comply with the NEC and any local requirements.

SER cable isn't required to be in conduit in a typical residential installation between the 200A service disconnect and 200A service panel (subpanel).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Industry Standard product with free shipping can't be beat! Couldn't get this locally so I ordered it from HD. The price as comparable and they shipped it free so I actually made out not having to drive 80 miles to the nearest electric supplier house. It's Industry standard South Wire product so you can't go wrong. You will need some method of cutting it to length though as it's a large cable. April 29, 2014
