1000 ft . 23-Gauge CAT6 Riser CMR Cable - Blue (4 pair). What is the MHZ for this cable?

I bought this wire for my house and I don't know if is good enough for my system.
Asked by: Robi
The cable is rated at 250 MHz. This is the upgraded replacement cable from Cat 5e (100 MHz) and is good for up to 10GB for distances under 180 ft. It requires all Cat6 rated hardware to achieve this speed though. It can be used with Cat 5e ends for 1GB performance with no problems. It will be a good wire to run in your house and can be upgraded with new end pieces later to get to 10GB throughput when needed.

Can this CAT6 product be used under ground? (Southwire TYPE CMR-BLUE 23/4) Photo attached.

Asked by: Jdog50
This cannot be used for "direct burial". Local building codes would dictate what type of conduit it would have to be in, and how deep it would have to be.

No, it's riser rated. Steer clear.

This Cat6 cable was easy to pull out of the box and didn't kink while pulling through the walls. I pulled from 3 boxes set side-by-side and they flowed perfectly together. The Cat6 spec that this cable is made to is not much different from the Cat5e spec in the jacket and general physical components. The twist/inch is different but all the other associated hardware is the same. It is rated for 250 MHz and can provide 10GB service out to 55 meters (180 ft). The new Cat6A spec (which this cable isn't) calls for more crosstalk prevention to be added and the jacket is a little stiffer making it capable of the 500 MHz rating and application for 10GB service out to 100 Meters (330 ft).

This is the worst excuse for wire I've ever seen. Completely unacceptable. As many commented prior to me, the wire kept getting tangled in the box, and seemed very brittle. I've never had this issue with 23 gauge wiring before, and would never recommend that anyone buy this wire. I typically don't write negative reviews, but this one couldn't slip by. Horrible wire, horrible dispensing. Too bad, as HD is usually my go to location for wire. Not any more. It also kinks very easy, due to the horrible dispenser. I'm going to throw 1/2 box away, as it's now a rat's nest, and totally unusable. I don't have time to "un-tangle" it. Game over. Steer clear of this substandard wire. I wish I had given more credence to the reviews that I admittedly read prior to buying the Southwire brand.

Needed a smaller box for a shorter run. Pairs in this cable are rather difficult to un-twist when terminating, so if I had it to do all over again, I'd probably go with a different brand of cable (and test the pairs before purchasing).

Hopefully it is just the box of cable that I bought being "defective", but this is the WORST cable I've ever tried to use. Haven't been able to make a 10' run without there being breaks in the cable. 3 runs done, but will have to redo them because I can't even get a link over the cable. Thank god I tested before I did the really complicated runs! P.S. Would've given 0/5 stars if I could.
