I will have a junction box above a T-bar ceiling for every two troffer-style LED fixtures and two junction boxes hooked together so that one switch turns on a total of four of the LED fixtures. Is there a wiring diagram available to show me how to make the connections? I purchased the LED fixtures from Home Depot. I opened the access panel on the top of the LED fixture and it seemed like the wires that were hooked to the panel weren't loose enough to pull through the opening. Not wanting to damage the internal wiring, I hesitated to pull very hard. Got advice?
Asked by: Rich
Hi Rich, I recommend that you discuss this with your neighborhood Home Depot Prodesk or maybe a local electrician. Lighting instructions can vary and wiring for lighting can vary too much to provide advice here. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

Where's the red wire? This product is mis-labeled. Should have 3rd conducter.

Asked by: Scott
For Southwire Whip descriptions, we count the ground wire, so black/white/green is a 14/3 whip.

only for suspended ceiling use?

Is it ok to use these lighting flex whips in a residential ceiling flush mount fixture application rather than a typical commercial drop/suspended ceiling application? I want to use them to connect multiple fixtures in a row in my garage. They connect right into the fixture punch-outs so it would be easy and help me navigate around a few minor obstructions rather than running EMT. They are 50W LED fixtures so the 14-3 is sufficient.

This product can be used in your intended application – just make certain you comply with NEC 330.30 regarding the securing Type MC cables (the whip uses Type MC cable). For example, per NEC 330.30(B) the cable will need to be secured within 12 inches of the cable termination (in the LED fixtures). If you do not have a copy of the NEC (NFPA 70), you can now access it (and other NFPA codes and standards) for free on the web at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. And remember that it is far better to hire a professional electrician for jobs like this than risk injury or fire by doing it yourself. Your safety and the safety of those around you are more important than any money you might save.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from mislabled product or manufactured wrong This is not 14-3 wire! If it was 14-3 it would also include a red conductor! This is 14-2.
