Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Definately not designed for "easy teardown" or splitting
Wire that was shipped was much different than smaller packages sold in store. Coating is less pliable, thinner than other brands of landscape lighting and likely to break if handled in moderately cold temperatures. Ad says designed for easy teardown but it is not. It was nearly impossible to separate the 2 wires without a razor blade.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cram Wire was a bit sticky but ended up OK
This spool of wire came on a different and smaller spool with respect to eariler orders of this part number of wire that I periodically ordered in the past. This time this wire company used clear plastic tape to secure the wire end, which made the first 20 feet or so, sticky. I had to take paint thinner on a rag to clean the wire end. Except for this minor inconvenience the wire worked as expected.

Good quality wire with a thick jacket and the quality of the copper strand also appears good. Jacket is just flexible enough and pliable to maneuver and pierce for the fixtures. 14 guage is plenty thick enough for a fully LED system with runs up to 150'. If you're using halogen though u might need thicker wire otherwise you'll get voltage drop. I have made runs of 150' with this wire with no drop and with about 60 watts from 5 led fixtures loaded on it a measures drop from 12 volt to 10. Which is totally acceptable.

Searched high and low for the best price and amazingly Home Depot was better than any online retailer I could find, plus they shipped it to my door for free.
500' of copper low volt wire is a heavy item, so be careful moving it around.

When using the wire in temperatures below 40 degrees, the insulation was splitting and breaking when trying to separate the pair and strip the wire.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jason Horrible insulation, bound to fail
This wire is a good price, but you get what you pay for. The insulation is much too thin, and prone to splitting. I'm frankly very surprised it's rated for direct burial.
I imagine Home Depot carries this wire because the thinner insulation would work better with a Malibu system that uses the piercing clip style connectors. I've been doing landscape lighting installation professionally for more than 10 years, I can tell you, those clips are a terrible way to make an outdoor electrical connection. To make a proper direct burial splice however, you must separate the two conductors. We trying to do this with this wire, the insulation tears every time. This wastes wire, expensive direct burial connectors, and most importantly time.
This wire MAY outlast the low-end, poorly built Malibu fixtures, but not by much. Don't waste your time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MetroplexAgent Perfect for Malibu lights
The unit price (cost per foot) is low and the wire is the perfect size for the clips used by Malibu landscape lights. While using 12 gauge wire is great for longer wire runs I’ve run into issues before with different wire where the wire sheathing is too thick for the clips to make contact so I end up having to use a knife to shave off some of the insulation. No shaving necessary with this wire.
