Answer: 
Any circuit fused for 30 amps must use a minimum of 10 ga copper or 8 ga alu. Longer runs may require an upgrade of wire size. In your case, use at least 10 copper for your welder regardless how far it is from the breaker panel.

Answer: 
No – this product is not rated for direct burial. Instead use wire rated USE(-2) (Underground Service Entrance) or single conductor UF (Underground Feeder). You can get spec sheets for all products at Southire.com under the product catalog page.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great wire I can't say much about 14 ga copper wire except that it isn't cheap. I used it to install an in ground pet fence and hope the system works and my dog stays in my yard. Otherwise I will have 2,500 feet of heavy copper wire for jewelry and fiber weaving projects.
