Customer Questions & Answers

Is this 2-0 or 2 gauge? What is its amp capacity

Asked by: Ash57
This a 2 gauge wire with an amp capacity of 225. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

Customer Reviews

(By-the-Foot) 6 Stranded Bare Copper is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6-7 refers to the fact that this is a #6 AWG conductor with 7 strands.... I disagree with the above comments that the the 6-7 is not really a #6 AWG conductor. The "-7" part refers to the stranding. There are 7 strands.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Little Surprise The wire is actually rated 6-7 gauge. I had expected a true #6. I had a deadline so used it anyway for a gas pipe grounding project in a number of condo's. I have my fingers crossed that the 7 part of the 6-7 will not cause me to fail my inspection. That said, It came on time and was an easy purchase
