Does this kill odorous house ants??

We can't get rid of the odorous house ants we have and are trying to find something will kill those in particular. We get them every summer and usually pay an exterminating company to spray, but wanted to try saving some money this summer and do it ourselves. They're the small black ants that have a poison-like smell to them when crushed. My grandfather always called them "p*ss ants" when we were growing up, because they have an ammonia smell to them when killed (like cat urine almost). After hiring an exterminator, we found out they were called Odorous House Ants, and are very hard to get rid of. Even the exterminators had problems getting rid of them, so we switched to a different company that charged us $400 to do an extensive "fog" outside around the house to get rid of them, which worked great and we were ant free last year. However, they're back, and with all the rain we're having, it's running them inside the house. All my neighbors are having issues as well. I'm hoping this will work and save us at lease $300 this summer. I've got a big problem with slugs in my yard as well, so I'll be on the hunt next for something that will kill those too.

Answer:
Hi Stacey. Right, all the rain will definitely bring more bugs inside. This spray is specifically listed for odorous house ants, and can be sprayed indoors and outdoors. Any idea where they are entering? Concentrating treatment at entry points, inside and outside window and door frames and along ant trails indoors will go a long way toward eradicating them. You can treat as needed. Good luck!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No ants present now. October 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Seems to work! I used the Ready to Use Ant Shield Insect Killer firstly in our garage. Then I used it inside our home living area. We are often not around for extended times and "daddy long legs" appear unexpectedly. After spraying, they and some carpender ants who also are a problem in our area disappeared! I then sprayed the corner areas in our basement where those same pesky spiders could be found. All look to have been eliminated through the home. The only issue I found was that the no smell spray caused me to start coughing extensively. I did have windows open but, I still had a problem with that! When applying the spray, just don't have others/pets around for a short while till the spray dries. August 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by USELESS PRODUCT Spectracide Ant Shield is completely useless; at least when its intended use is to kill carpenter ants. After repeated surface treatment with no noticeable effect on ant behavior, I applied the product directly to the ants using an eye dropper. After casually wiping their antennae free of the liquid, they continued on their appointed rounds with no ill effect. Raid Ant and Roach killer by contrast results in immediate neurological toxicity upon contact, whether it be spray or surface contact. The only problem with the Raid product is that it has limited residual effect. I have concluded that the name Ant Shield must refer to its properties of protecting ants from harm. July 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It got the job done! The ant killer worked like it said it would. Very quick and easy to use. December 11, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ant killer spray The sprayer was easy to use and covers well but required repeated spraying to keep ant away more than a day. June 30, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ant spray the product was good...but the pump was not..had to use a spray bottle i had. June 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by get you some This stuff works well on those strange ants that seem to be invading Texas in a bad way. I am talking about the ones that seem to make a mound every ten feet or so. I only had to reapply on a couple of mounds. I just wish my neighbors would use it because their ants just keep coming into my yard January 20, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wished it worked as advertised............. I'VE HAD AN ANT PROBLEN ON THE OUTSIDE FOUNDATION OF MY HOUSE. I've used most of the full gallon of spray. After spraying, the ants are gone for about an hour then return. I've emailed the company directly and the answer was "after spraying, when an insect crawls over the area, it will dies in a few hours". After almost two weeks of spraying 3-4 times a day, the ants ARE STILL THERE!! July 22, 2014
