stop new growth

we have a tree that we have to continue to cut back. If we cut off a branch and spray on end will it stop new growth from the cut branch end?
Asked by: srgbo
Depends on the size of new growth, but will only work for this a few months if it wears off with the tree bark growth.

After a while, the black arrow on the black spray cap became illegible. I accidentally sprayed myself in the face, covering my glasses and face with spray. I started lining the cap up with the can seam

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Splatter Ahead! I just applied this product to some trees that I pruned, so it is too early to determine how effective it will be over time at protecting them. However, the product dispenses from the can with a great deal of "spitting" and "splattering," so I essentially ruined a work shirt in the process of applying it. The directions on the can instruct the user to apply it close-up (6 - 9 inches) and in short bursts, so it's not surprising that the gooey liquid caused a lot of spray back. The product instructions mention the possibility of dripping -- I'll say! Unless you're prepared to wear a hazmat-style gear, or to don a paint suit, you may do better to find an alternative product.

The product comes out of the can faster than I expected and covered a larger area than I wanted covered. I just wanted to cover an area of a Japanese Maple that had lost its bark but when I pushed lightly on the nozzle it covered more than the area. The product dried before I could wipe it off the over-sprayed area. The next time I will tape some newspaper around the area I intend to covered to prevent the over spray. On the plus side, the seal dries quickly and seem durable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for Triming Live Oak Trees Live Oak trees are prone to a disease called oak wilt. To defend my property from oak wilt, I use pruning paint immediately after triming a limb. I have hundreds of live oaks so oak wilt is always a concern. I would give this stuff 5 stars if it wasn't so messy. Be sure to be up-wind when you stray or the over spray will end up on you and your glasses. At the end of the day have some mineral spirits available for cleanup or scrub the hair off your arms with soap and water.

I applied the product to prevent rot. It sticks well and covers well, seaping into the cracks. Wears thin after a years duration and should be reapplied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Spectracide works Useful on pruned tree and shrub limbs. Helped in preventing them from drying out and getting infested and allowed for faster regrowth. Only drawback is the spray nozzle that clogs easily.
