My daughter just moved into her first apartment. It's a teensy tiny studio. The bathroom door had been removed at some point in the past - probably because opening it took up too much room in the living room area. As a solution I picked up this accordion folding door to provide some privacy. Her dorm room had had the same type of accordion folding door which was the only reason I knew they existed! That led me to hunt down a similar door - preferably more attractive than the fake wood grain model her dorm room had sported.
There were several styles at different price points online and in the store. I was torn between a more expensive version that looked like it might be thicker and this one. The higher end models had reviews referencing the lack of a magnetic closure - that feature having been replaced by some type of bracket. The reviews mentioning that change all said they would have preferred the magnetic closure. That was one thing that pushed me toward this inexpensive model. The other thing was the ease of cutting the material. This inexpensive version seemed to be thinner and reviews stated it was easy to cut. My daughter's doorway was shorter than average and I needed to cut a full 12 inches off the bottom of the panels.
In the end I was very happy with the ease of cutting and was happy that we'd gone with this version. The instructions about the shortening process were vague - they mentioned using tape when shortening the panels but weren't specific about what that meant. By reading the reviews and from prior experience with materials that splintered when cut I knew the tape reference meant to cut through the taped panels to prevent splintering. I folded the panels completely closed as tightly as possible and taped around the area where I planned to cut. I used my multi-tool to cut through the tape and plastic panels and it ended up cutting very neatly - not a ragged finish - it looked very smooth. Not quite as perfect as a factory cut but since the cut edge is at the floor it looks perfect to the eye.
Attaching the top track and the side closure/magnetic latch were easy - those instructions were excellent. With the light on inside the bathroom you can see light coming through - mostly at the thin vinyl seams where the panels attach to each other. Otherwise it is opaque enough for privacy. Daughter loves it and landlord was impressed as well. For the tiny amount we paid - around $30 - it made a huge difference in the functionality of the apartment!
Including carefully measuring and cutting the track and the panels with my multi-tool and installing the whole thing it was all done in less than forty-five minutes.

with 28 units each with 2-3 doors you can see why this is a easy solution to the appearance of any unit. this product mounts in minutes versus a wooden door that takes a couple of hours to install. so far , the ones I have purchased have held up very well. tenants seem to like the ease of use.

These are vinyl doors so they are not the highest quality but they are being used to close off a laundry area so I didn't want to spend a lot of money for that area. Nevertheless, they were easy to install, look good and do the job of hiding the laundry fairly attractively so I am happy with this purchase.

It looks great and it was a good deal. I don't think it will be around very long. It seems to be a bit on the flimsy side. You have to carefully open and close it. It is better than a curtain and or a door in the area I needed it so it worked out for us, I just hope it stays a while.

Installation is easy for this item. Only problem I had was with the supplied screws. They are wood screws and not threaded to the top of the shaft just under the screwhead. Therefore the screws are not good for metal door jambs, lucky for me there is a Home Depot within walking distance.
