Answer:
We do not recommend painting the door, which would likely chip off the panels and hinges.

Answer:
It has two magnetic closures. One at the top and one at the bottom. One of my magnetic closures doesn't work too well.

My opening is not quite 36". Would only have 34" of maximum width allow the door to close adequately?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Accordion doors I really liked the doors. They really make my room look neater. August 3, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Durable Dining Room Door This door took my fiance and I less than an hour to install and we only needed a screw driver. The pictures and written instructions were easy to follow and the pieces were neatly packed. The door looks great. It closes off the dining room which is on a separate heating unit from the kitchen. It not only looks nice but keeps the cooler air from coming in in the winter and the warmer air out in the summer! August 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by accordion door Assembly seemd much harder than it should have been. Frame is pretty flimsy b4 you install it. Should take about an hour to i stall at the most but we worked on it for several hours.. happy with being able to close a door to the bathroom.. but thinkmit works vetter as a closet door. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Accordion Door I used this product to replace sliding doors in front of my washer and dryer. I love the extra space these doors have afforded for the laundry area. I can now get into the washer and dryer by just pushing each door open. The installation was quite simple. The only thing I'm not completely happy with, is that I felt there should have been a magnet or something to hold the two doors closed to each other. These doors are not real heavy so I hope that they hold up with use. I looked at the heavier ones but they were too wide and would not fit in the space between the appliances and the hallway. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy this. Put a old sheet up instead This appears to be a good product but it isn't. If you need to cut it forget the install and take it back. The panels are hollow core pieces made of brittle plastic and just explode when you put a saw to them. I followed the directions and taped the edge to be cut. I tried a hack saw, a sabre saw with a fine tooth blade, a circular saw, even a 4.5" cut off wheel and had the same results every time. The plastic just exploded/shattered. I used a hot knife tool and that worked best but left a colored edge. I would guess if you don't need to cut it the thing would work for a while, but with this very brittle plastic compound used I'd say the life of it will be short. I've been a handy man for 50 years and a profession mechanic since I started work back before we put a man on the moon and this is the most worthless thing I've ever worked on. August 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great door Bought my frost white folding door around three days ago, i love it. It looks so clean and is pretty. I needed a door and could pay for a special order door, this door does tje trick. Cheryl from brooklyn September 11, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DONT, just don't. If you plan on going back 4 times as I did then maybe you'll end up with one that isn't damaged/missing hardware. The first one had a horrible paint job. The second had bent tracks, the third was missing hardware. I came back for a FOURTH time and made them open the remainder of them To make sure it was all there, you guessed it, NOPE. I then checked all the hardware in the ones that had been returned earlier that morning. They ALL were missing hardware. About 20 screws in total were missing from each one. HORRIBLE PRODUCT IN EVERY WAY. April 20, 2015
