Customer Reviews

Rated 2.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent roof box for the price Being an engineer I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before buying this roof box and I think it's the best value one on the market. I just got back from a 10 day road trip and was really happy with it. Some reviews I read mentioned that it was flimsy and difficult to assemble. However I found it no more flimsy than other expensive Thule roof boxes I have used. In fact once locked down, the additional clamps on the front and back make it more solid and sturdy than others. I think people don't realise that they feel a bit flimsy when open because they are made this way to be lightweight. They are still very sturdy. It is a little bit tricky to assemble but no more than IKEA furniture. October 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not waste your time Very hard to install hinges. After assembly the plastic would buckle from the weight of the top. This was in a cold basement. Can't imagine how flimsy it would have been in the sun on a hot day. Going back immediately. July 18, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Look for another cargo carrier I researched cargo carriers for our trip to the beach. I finally settled on this one. It has pros and cons and the cons were bad enough for me to reccomend to kee plooking. First the pros. This thing is HUGE. It held 3 suitcases (1 large, 1 medium, one small). 2 duffle bags, two beach chairs, and we still had room for a bit more if we needed it. Now the cons: It's very flimsy. So much so that it makes it more difficut to assemble because the lid was always flopping around. The assembly is a night mare. You literally need someone to crawl insde of it and close the lid in order to assemble one of the parts. The locks and keys are very flimsy. One of the keys actually broke and one of the locks takes a couple of tries to get the key in correctly to lock or unlock it. Attaching it to the crossbars is very easy on the passenger side that opens, but next to impossible on the drivers side. When open, you need someone with long thin arms to be able to reach around the open part to attach the bolts inside. We have a pretty large SUV and could not reach across from the passenger side. Getting these bolts off so you can store the thing is just as difficult for the same reason. When all closed up it's pretty stable. But, it has a pretty large profile so when driving at highway speeds, shakes a bit. I used this only once and then went an purchased a rear opening cargo carrier that was much easier to install. Do yourself a favor and pass this one up for another that's about the same price that is rear opening, like the Sportrack Vista. August 25, 2014
