Will this power a small AC unit on a camper?

Asked by: basil
The A/C on my new trailer (2016), will NOT run with this lousy generator. It does not supply the rated wattage. When I returned it, they refused to credit my Visa, instead giving me a "Gift card". Caveat Emptor, buyer beware.

Does this unit run at high idle at all times or down it idle down when not under a load?
Asked by: James
You can choose how you want it to function. I use it to run an A/C unit on a RV. So I have it hold RPM constant so the surge of the compressor can be handled without a stall. You can through a switch that will idle the generator down when under lite loads. What ever the output frequency remains the same as this an inverter design. As long as you use it under conditions that can handle a slight surge time it will preform excellent. Even in full ready mode the generator is very low noise. We can carry on a conversation with the unit at full power twenty foot away.

3,500-Watt Gasoline Powered Digital Inverter Generator with Built-in RV Outlet is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real value So-here's the deal: When I received it it was covered in oil. There is a reason. There is a few ounces of oil left in the crankcase for shipping/storage. This leaks out the crankcase vent if the box is set on its end or side. That is the CARRIER's fault, not Home Depot or the manufacturer's. A few seconds with soapy water, all clean. BLOW DRY THE THING WITH A LEAF BLOWER. Then read the manual. PUT AT LEAST ONE QUART OF OIL IN THE ENGINE, it may need a LITTLE MORE TO FILL IT TO THE FULL POINT-which per the manual will result in a little overflow. DON'T GO BY THE DIPSTICK. IF YOU DON'T IT WILL BE AT BEST HARD TO START or WILL NOT START. and yes, you will NEED A FUNNEL. Past that-lives up to expectations. Quiet, even under a load. Weighs half of what my old one does. Put a gallon of gas in it, turned the fuel on, hit the primer bulb ten times, started on the first pull. I like it, most folks will too. I lucked up and got it on sale, added bonus. With the Honda equivalent costing at least $2k, this is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works on one AC on my Cougar Xlit RV , but after running several minutes, it was able to run my AC and TV. I have not gotten the chance to use it for a long period of time but I feel it will work fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We are really happy with this. It is lighter than our old one, and much quieter. It is easy to use, easy to transport, and it is quieter than older models. We are very happy with this generator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just like it should I bought this online from home depot. There was a one day sale for $550.00. It arrived in just a few days. I unboxed it, prepped it properly and it fired off on the 1st pull. It runs the a/c, water pump, and lights in my travel trailer with the econ switched on. I would suggest to all of those who had trouble with theirs take the time to actually set the generator up. Put oil in it, put gas in it, oil the air filter, and turn the gas on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good product When I received the generator it was all covered in oil. Also the side panel on the pull start side was cracked. I called the company and they were OK to deal with. They sent out a new side panel that also was cracked! Ignoring this, I tried to start it and could not start the unit even after exhausting myself numerous times. I followed the directions to the tee, but it would only sputter a few times. I returned it to Home Depot and they gave me a full refund.
