PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Model # GEN4000LP

Internet # 202222977

The Sportsman Propane 3,250/4,000-Watt Portable Generator can power common household appliances and power tools. RV ready, it is equipped with one - 120-Volt RV plug, two -120-Volt outlets and a 12-Volt DC outlet for battery charging. A generator of this size is ideal for small camping or tailgating parties or to have on hand in case you need some temporary power in an emergency situation. It has a 7-HP 4-Stroke OHV recoil start engine. Its affordable but well thought out with full featured options such as automatic low oil shutdown and automatic voltage regulator. It boasts an engine run time of 10 hrs at 50% on a common 20 lb. (gas grill type) cylinder (LPG cylinder not included). A 5 ft. propane fuel hose with a regulator is included for your added convenience. The engine is surprisingly quiet; it runs at less than 68 dB. This is a great generator for anyone who needs affordable power. Propane has several distinct advantages over gasoline generators. Propane burns cleaner than gas engines. Carbon monoxide emissions run up to 40% lower. Propane will not degrade, so you can keep several propane tanks on hand for emergencies and store them for an unlimited amount of time. Since this generator runs on propane you never have to worry about the fuel going bad or having the carburetor getting fouled due to degenerated gasoline - a common problem with gasoline powered small engines.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 240 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A sound investment ! Well I needed a new generator for my Truck Camper , as it is an older unit the A/C draws 20 amps and was too big for my other generator ! So after some shopping I decided too go with Propane instead of the cheaper gas models , I am so happy that I did , I have only placed about 4 hours on it so far . The unit seems too be everything they said it was . I Love it ,,, Ken June 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well I ordered this when it was the deal of the day, just before Hurricane Sandy was announced. Delivered in 4 days, just before the storm for which I was glad as I have been without power for 5 days now. It works very well. I don't know how to determine load, but I have been getting about 6.5 hours per tank running the refrigerator, tv,computer, and alternating the freezer and pellet stove. I love the propane as you can't get gasoline in this area and propane doesn't give the gas fumes and is safer to transport than gas. It is easy to operate and change oil. I do wish it came with wheels but I put it on a flat bed dolly and it moved easily. November 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bargain price for this generator This generator does what it is supposed to do. It starts easily on two pulls, can handle a good sized load, can charge a 12V battery, and now comes with an "RV" receptacle which is a NEMA TT-30R type 120V 30A capacity. September 19, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SAVE YOUR MONEY!! DON'T BUY THIS IS MY SECOND ATTEMPT AT LEAVING A REVIEW. GENERATOR IS 6 MONTHS OLD, RAN LESS THAN 20 HOURS, RUNS FINE WON'T MAKE ANY ELECTRICTY. RETURNED TO HOME DEPOT BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT THROUGH THEIR WEB SITE. GUESS WHAT NOT THEIR PROBLEM.CALLED THE 1-800 NUMBER WAS TOLD I HAD TO TROUBLE SHOOT THE GENERATOR FOR THEM. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF LOOKING AT PARTS FROM THE INSIDE OF THE GENERATOR, PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER,TRIED AGAIN STILL NOTHING, THE GIRL AT THE 1-800 NUMBER TRIED TO BLAME ME ,THAT I OVERLOADED THE GENERATOR ALTHOUGH THE AC ON MY RV IS WELL WITHIN THE SPECS OF THIS GENERATOR, STILL WAITING FOR A CALL FROM THE REPAIR TECH. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Generator Propane is the way to go since propane gas lasts basically forever in the bottle. Gasoline goes bad over time and ethanol blends are horrible on the small carbs in most generators. Would suggest that you pick up a propane bottle and have it filled where they fill bottles from a big tank. The exchange bottles give you an older bottle and often only partially filled. This generator handles the loads well and is reasonably quiet. January 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great generator This generator came with low expectations. I bought it on sale at a ridiculously low price. However, it has turned out to be a gem. I use at my off grid cabin in the San Luis Valley. It starts every time. It's not a loud generator. It goes through practically no oil. It's not as pretty as a Honda or other high price generators, but it runs like a charms and powers everything I put to it: all power tools, including a massive hammer drill, microwave, etc. Finally, it runs forever on a single tank of propane. I used it building the cabin for probably three hours a day over two weeks. This is a great generator. August 19, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works As Advertised Set up was easy. I needed a generator that could power my tool while away from the domestic power source. The fact that it runs on Propane is a plus. Modern gasoline contains ethanol and has a separation problem that come along with age. Diesel, can grow algae or mold (?) with age. But, propane has none of these old age problems, so I feel safe if my generator sit for long periods -- when not needed. I had my unit delivered to my local store and, somewhere along the way, some one dropped it on it's side sever enough to have the generator flex on it's rubber mounts and break a hole in the electrical box. But, it works as it is supposed to and doesn't show any problems. My only concern is the noise associated with the running of the engine. It is better than many units on the market; however, I may design a noise-reduction enclosure. April 21, 2015
