  • Runs on clean, quiet and efficient Liquid Propane Gas (LPG)
  • 3250 running watts/4,000 surge watts
  • 10 hr Run Time at 50% Load on a common 20Lb LPG cylinder
The Sportsman Propane 3,250/4,000-Watt Portable Generator can power common household appliances and power tools. RV ready, it is equipped with 1-120-Volt RV outlet, 2 -120-Volt outlets and a 12-Volt DC outlet for battery charging. A generator of this size is ideal for small camping or tailgating parties or to have on hand in case you need some temporary power in an emergency situation. It has a 7 HP 4-Stroke OHV Recoil Start engine. It's affordable but well thought out with full featured options such as Automatic Low Oil Shutdown and Automatic-Voltage Regulator. It boasts an engine run time of 10 hours at 50% on a common 20 lb. (gas grill type) cylinder (LPG cylinder not included). A 5 ft. propane fuel hose with a regulator is included for your added convenience. The engine is surprisingly quiet; it runs at less than 68 dB. This is a great generator for anyone who needs affordable power. Propane has several distinct advantages over gasoline generators. Propane burns cleaner than gas engines. Carbon monoxide emissions run up to 40% lower. Propane will not degrade, so you can keep several propane tanks on hand for emergencies and store them for an unlimited amount of time. Since this generator runs on propane you never have to worry about the fuel going bad or having the carburetor getting fouled due to degenerated gasoline - a common problem with gasoline powered small engines. CARB Approved.

  • High altitude use: this generator is not recommended for high altitude use above 3,000 ft.

What is the relative "noise level" when running the Sportsman?

What is the relative "noise level" when running the Sportsman?
Asked by: Andy
Personally it is no worse than any oher small generator. The advantage of propane power outweighs any noise however. It is always ready to go, no worry about stale gasoline.

4,000-Watt Clean Burning LPG Propane Gas Powered Portable Generator, 50 State Compliant is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great little generator Bought this unit 4 years ago incase of emergency and left it in the box until this week, pulled it out this weekend with hurricane Mathew on the way. Put in oil, hooked up propane and got ready to fire it up fully expecting a 2-3 hour ordeal due to the 4 years it sat in my garage. Low and behold it burst to life on the 3 pull, ran my fridge/freezer and several lights, fan and radio no worries at all. this is the smartest buy in a small ez to use generator with enough moxie to handle emergency needs and keep you comfortable. 100 percent satisfied. A wee bit heavy, but truly the best buy on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice! Purchased this generator after the freak snow storm in October 2011 in New Jersey. It arrived in perfect condition thanks to UPS. I tested it and it started easily. I store it in my shed and only pulled it out this past weekend in advance of hurricane Sandy. Power went out Monday night and within 5 minutes the generator was up and running. I ran it for 11 hours over a 24 hour period. I was running 2 Refrigerators and a TV. It didn't even use up (1) 20 pound tank of propane.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fires right up I have tested this only once so far, but it started on the first pull. I ran it for about 20 minutes with no issues at all. Note #1:Do not try and use sensitive electronics with this, or any standard generator without the use of a line conditioner. Note #2: LP gas stores much longer than gasoline because gasoline degrades rapidly. That fact makes this generator an excellent choice for emergencies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PERFECT for those not wanting to have and or hold gasoline Searched for best size/capacity in a propane generator and this was best-available on the market. It IS exactly as described and HAS worked flawlessly to it's description since receiving. I wish there were a model with 5-6000 at the same weight WITH wheels for moving about. The power output @ 4000 IS less than what would have been optimum for us, yet the larger was TOO large to fit in to our travel trailer for journies. Would HIGHLY recommend and all who have viewed it say they would LOVE to get rid of their gasoline powered units in favour of this! Also wish it had the electric start from remote feature!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DECENT PRODUCT WITH SMALL PROBLEM I PURCHASED ONE OF THESE GENERATORS 14 MONTHS AGO, NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. IT STARTED FINE AND WAS NOT USED AGAIN UNTIL JUNE OF 2012'. COULD NOT USE IT IN THE EMERGANCY. THE LOW PRESSURE HOSE HAD DISCENTERGRATED TO NOTHING FROM JUST SITTING. IF YOU EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY WILL FURNISH A REPLACEMENT HOSE. CHECK YOUR UNIT BEFORE TURNING ON THE GAS FOR THE ABOVE PROBLEM. BE SAFE NOT SORRY. JC

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well and the propane system is great! I ordered the generator to be delivered in-store. There was some minor confusion in the store about how to handle an online pickup, but they eventually found the one person who seemed to know. The generator has some cosmetic damage (dent to top panel and bent grounding bolt) even though there was no damage to the box. I fixed both rather than return them and go through the order process again. The generator started right away after connecting a propane tank. The propane system eliminates the problems with gasoline sitting in the unit for long periods. I would recommend this generator. (Pros and Cons choices do not appear to be for a generator)
