Product Overview

The Sportsman Propane 3,250/4,000-Watt Portable Generator can power common household appliances and power tools. RV ready, it is equipped with 1-120-Volt RV outlet, 2 -120-Volt outlets and a 12-Volt DC outlet for battery charging. A generator of this size is ideal for small camping or tailgating parties or to have on hand in case you need some temporary power in an emergency situation. It has a 7 HP 4-Stroke OHV Recoil Start engine. It's affordable but well thought out with full featured options such as Automatic Low Oil Shutdown and Automatic-Voltage Regulator. It boasts an engine run time of 10 hours at 50% on a common 20 lb. (gas grill type) cylinder (LPG cylinder not included). A 5 ft. propane fuel hose with a regulator is included for your added convenience. The engine is surprisingly quiet; it runs at less than 68 dB. This is a great generator for anyone who needs affordable power. Propane has several distinct advantages over gasoline generators. Propane burns cleaner than gas engines. Carbon monoxide emissions run up to 40% lower. Propane will not degrade, so you can keep several propane tanks on hand for emergencies and store them for an unlimited amount of time. Since this generator runs on propane you never have to worry about the fuel going bad or having the carburetor getting fouled due to degenerated gasoline - a common problem with gasoline powered small engines. CARB Approved.

  • Uses a standard gas grill style LPG tank, not included
  • 120-Volt 27 Amp/240-Volt 15 Amp operation

Answer:
As long as the connecting hose fits the tank, no problem. The hose includes an inline pressure regulator so a straight hose without a regulator would be unsafe.

Answer:
Yes as long as it has the standard barbeque thread hookup on the valve. By the way this generator is great for an emergency setup. You don't have to worry about storing propane and having it go stale like you do with the gasoline models. Doesn't have electric start but this thing starts like gangbusters. Very easy.

Would no longer be CARB compliant and usually it takes a different carbeurator than propane.

Answer:
If you hook up the generators to a larger propane tank you must connect to the larger propane tank before the existing regulator. You must use the supplied hose and regulator kit. You cannot hook up to the propane tank after the large tanks existing regulator because the generators cannot be double regulated. If you have more questions please contact customer service at 800-568-6657. Thank you.

4,000-Watt Clean Burning LPG Propane Gas Powered Portable Generator, 50 State Compliant is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great little generator Bought this unit 4 years ago incase of emergency and left it in the box until this week, pulled it out this weekend with hurricane Mathew on the way. Put in oil, hooked up propane and got ready to fire it up fully expecting a 2-3 hour ordeal due to the 4 years it sat in my garage. Low and behold it burst to life on the 3 pull, ran my fridge/freezer and several lights, fan and radio no worries at all. this is the smartest buy in a small ez to use generator with enough moxie to handle emergency needs and keep you comfortable. 100 percent satisfied. A wee bit heavy, but truly the best buy on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT VALUE!!! LP / Propane is the best for generators!!! LP is the best for generators. Hook it up to your RV or trailer propane tanks or better yet you can go to almost any major store and swap our your 20lb LP tank for a refill anytime. LP never spoils unlike gas, not messy like gas, and if there ever was a leak(I doubt it) you would smell it right away. This generator has it all. Plenty of power for any RV AC system, microwave, blow dryers, electric heaters, etc. Easy to handle, 30 amp plug, and balanced weight. And the price??? Can't beat it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This one works fine I ordered the 2000 watt propane generator and it arrived with broken motor mounts. Home Depot took it back no problem. When the 4000 went on sale and included free shipping I decided to step up. Glad I did. It works fine. Started first time after about 5 or 6 pulls. You have to let the propane fill up the hose. Shut it off put kept tank connected. Started up after 2-3 pulls. More features than the 2000. Plus twice the output for not much more $. I only gave 4 stars for quality because I'm leary of the company after my experience with the 2000 but other than that the 4000 seems pretty sturdy. And heavy. Haven't had it out in the field yet but so far so goo

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fires right up I have tested this only once so far, but it started on the first pull. I ran it for about 20 minutes with no issues at all. Note #1:Do not try and use sensitive electronics with this, or any standard generator without the use of a line conditioner. Note #2: LP gas stores much longer than gasoline because gasoline degrades rapidly. That fact makes this generator an excellent choice for emergencies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice! Purchased this generator after the freak snow storm in October 2011 in New Jersey. It arrived in perfect condition thanks to UPS. I tested it and it started easily. I store it in my shed and only pulled it out this past weekend in advance of hurricane Sandy. Power went out Monday night and within 5 minutes the generator was up and running. I ran it for 11 hours over a 24 hour period. I was running 2 Refrigerators and a TV. It didn't even use up (1) 20 pound tank of propane.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PERFECT for those not wanting to have and or hold gasoline Searched for best size/capacity in a propane generator and this was best-available on the market. It IS exactly as described and HAS worked flawlessly to it's description since receiving. I wish there were a model with 5-6000 at the same weight WITH wheels for moving about. The power output @ 4000 IS less than what would have been optimum for us, yet the larger was TOO large to fit in to our travel trailer for journies. Would HIGHLY recommend and all who have viewed it say they would LOVE to get rid of their gasoline powered units in favour of this! Also wish it had the electric start from remote feature!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DECENT PRODUCT WITH SMALL PROBLEM I PURCHASED ONE OF THESE GENERATORS 14 MONTHS AGO, NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. IT STARTED FINE AND WAS NOT USED AGAIN UNTIL JUNE OF 2012'. COULD NOT USE IT IN THE EMERGANCY. THE LOW PRESSURE HOSE HAD DISCENTERGRATED TO NOTHING FROM JUST SITTING. IF YOU EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY WILL FURNISH A REPLACEMENT HOSE. CHECK YOUR UNIT BEFORE TURNING ON THE GAS FOR THE ABOVE PROBLEM. BE SAFE NOT SORRY. JC
