Product Overview

The Sportsman Propane 3,250/4,000-Watt Portable Generator can power common household appliances and power tools. RV ready, it is equipped with one 120-Volt RV plug, two 120-Volt outlets and a 12-Volt DC outlet for battery charging. A generator of this size is ideal for small camping or tailgating parties or to have on hand in case you need some temporary power in an emergency situation. It has a 7 HP 4-Stroke OHV recoil start engine. It's affordable but well thought out, with full featured options such as automatic low oil shutdown and automatic voltage regulator. It boasts an engine run time of 10 hours at 50% on a common 20 lb. (gas grill type) cylinder (LPG cylinder not included). A 5 ft. propane fuel hose with a regulator is included for your added convenience. The engine is surprisingly quiet; it runs at less than 68 dB. This is a great generator for anyone who needs affordable power. Propane has several distinct advantages over gasoline generators. Propane burns cleaner than gas engines. Carbon monoxide emissions run up to 40% lower. Propane will not degrade, so you can keep several propane tanks on hand for emergencies and store them for an unlimited amount of time. Since this generator runs on propane you never have to worry about the fuel going bad or having the carburetor getting fouled due to degenerated gasoline - a common problem with gasoline powered small engines.

  • Uses a standard gas grill style LPG tank like the ones sold and refilled at The Home Depot
  • High altitude use: this generator is not recommended for high altitude use above 3,000 ft.
  • 7-HP, 4-stroke OHV, recoil start engine, delivers maximum performance
  • Generator runs on clean, quiet and efficient liquid propane gas (LPG), so you never have to worry about bad gasoline fouling the engine
  • 3250 running Watt/4,000 surge Watt
  • 5 ft. regulator hose is included in box
  • LPG propane tank is not included
  • Air cooled, AVR automatic voltage regulation, recoil start, low oil shut off, spark arrestor, full power panel, engine shut off switch, overload protected outlets
  • One 120-Volt RV plug, two 120-Volt outlets and one 12-Volt DC outlet
  • Run time equal to 10 hours at 50% load per 20 lb. of LPG fuel
  • Decibel rating: less than 68 dB
  • EPA approved
  • 120-Volt 27 Amp/240-Volt 15 Amp operation
  • Liquid Propane Gas Generator

I live in a trailer with no power, I have this LP Generator and love it...but now its hot here in Utah so I bought this LG Portable AC unit to cool my trailer down..I'm no electrician at all so I need some help..this AC unit works for about a hour or two then my Generator acts up.....the AC UNIT---115 Volts....1270 Watts...11.3 Rated Amps....I use a 25ft 12 gauge extension cord to connect the two...having trouble, can anyone help me please....thank you and God Bless..

my thoughts are running at 75% power the issue your having is the propane tank freezing up. I noted this in previously asked questions. When running at basically full load the propane tanks seem to freeze up so shutting down fuel thus engine shutdown or stumbling. To resolve the issue I float the tank in a tube of water. Not sure if this is the issue but sounds like a possibility or at least something to look at. Hope it helps, if the propane tank is cold try floating it in water.

This should not be used indoors because it still produces carbon monoxide. Place the unit outside and run a cord of sufficient gauge inside.

Although it has a built in voltage regulator I would use a surge protector to ensure safe operation of electrics like a computer.

The engine is air cooled. It may overheat even if the exhaust gasses are piped out. I would not recommend it.

I purchased the first one 2 years ago for a home we own in Florida. This past fall we lost power for 3 days, the result of a hurricane the generator operated flawlessly supplying power to the fridge, and a couple of rooms, Ran it during the day and shut it down at night, no problems starting it. I had a 900 watt generator for tailgating that failed after one season of football, seeing this on sale for about $100 less than what I paid for the first one, was a no brainer to purchase a second one for tailgating and after losing power during an ice storm in the northeast. I have seen comments regarding transporting this generator, I purchased a small dolly and mounted it to the bottom of the generator, the wheels are small so just good for hard surfaces. If going to be used for camping etc, I believe the wheel kit from a compeditor would work with minor modifications, the basic frame structure looks the same

Unfortunately there was some damage during shipping which chipped a guard on the air filter; but that does not affect the performance. Add your oil, connect the propane, set the choke, and pull! Started first pull! The price is great, and it will pay for itself the next time the power goes out by keeping our fridge running. Last power outage we lost over $500 in groceries =( The generator is not too loud, and came with everything but oil. They even included a funnel for filling up the oil! Overall good purchase experience, my friend who helped me unwrap it and attach the rubber feet wants one now.

Couldn't get it to start until I ignored the directions. Choke position is very touchy: you have to back it off fast or it stalls. Once it started, it wasn't as loud as I thought it would be.

We bought this generator for our travel trailer so we can make rest stops on long trips without having to hook up at a campsite. It has plenty power to run our generator and refrigerator. It's quieter than expected and light enough that one person can load and unload it. We have two 40 pound LP tanks on the trailer so there is plenty propane on board when we need it. There is a huge benefit to not needing to drain gasoline from the tank and lines when not in use. We would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a quiet and low maintenance generator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I purchased this generator to use on our houseboat. I did a lot of research on safety and feel that I have a a safe set-up. I couldn't believe the price but it was the reviews that sold me on the product. Most negative reviews came from some issues with shipping damage. I was fortunate not to have any. The generator started on the second pull. It runs great. The sound was louder than anticipated (68 dB). I built a sound suppressing box with fan and exhaust ports that has greatly reduced the noise to the range of a Honda EU2000 inverter generator (53 dB) and it is a far cheaper system. I purchased a Fairview RV Camper LP / Propane 2 Stage Gas Regulator, that automatically changes over from an empty to full tank. I can run the generator the entire weekend without having to change out my propane tanks (10 hour run time at 50% load on a common 20 lb. LPG cylinder). I like the benefits of using propane over gas (Propane burns cleaner than gas engines and carbon monoxide emissions run up to 40% lower). Be sure to have your propane tanks filled instead of exchanging tanks (Exchange tanks are not filled to the maximum legal limit, 20lb tanks often contain only 15lb of fuel). I love having the 120-Volt RV plug. I purchased a Marine 30 amp female to 30 amp male 125v Shore Power Pigtail Boat & RV Adapter that allows me to connect to my 30 amp shore power cord. There are two additional 120-Volt and one 12-Volt DC outlet that allows me to even charge a spare battery. This unit powers our A/C unit on our houseboat and refrigerator along with my boat systems with no problems.
