Spring loaded

Is the only difference between this and the L221N model the spring loading on the D221N ? I need a safety switch that I will be operating on and off each day for an air compressor that requires a 20 Amp circuit. Is the D221N a better safety switch for my configuration ? I am looking for a safety switch that is easily operated yet will last. Trying to understand the differences between the 2 I listed.
Asked by: Jim
The differences between Light Duty safety switch L221N and General Duty safety swtich D221N are the AIC rating capabilities, duty applications, Light Duty is available in Nema 1 enclosures only and General Duty is available in Nema 1 or Nema 3R enclosures, and the General Duty is supplied with spring activated quick-make, quick-break operating mechanism while the Light Duty is not.

Customer Reviews

30 Amp 240-Volt 2-Pole Indoor General Duty Fusible Safety Switch with Neutral is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Square D quality and piece of mind. By code I didn't need it, but I wanted peace of mind when I left my garage at the end of the day. I Installed a new garage air compressor, and wanted a way to remove power when leaving for the day. I wired this into my sub panel which is next to my entrance door. Now when I leave it's compressor off, and lights out. There is no chance of a compressor overheating issue when no one is around. My main service panel, and garage sub panel are Square D I like the quality so that's why I chose this Square D Safety Switch.
