Panel Installed easily replacing old 200 Amp General Switch panel with burnt main. This is a 30 space panel designed to take 40 circuits. That means that "tandem breakers", (thinner double pole breakers like 20-40-40-20 on two bus bars) will only go onto the bottom five bus bars (bottom 10 slots). This gives a 20 "regular" breaker and 20 "tandem" breaker capacity, for a total of 40 circuits. I did not use the grounding bars screwed down on the sides. Instead, I bonded the neutral bar to the case, and put my safety-grounds and neutrals in the same bars nearer to the center. All one common ground. That is the way the original panel was, so I copied this method. My old panel box would accept "Square D Homeline Breakers", but my old breakers would not go into the Square D box. (Backward but not forward compatible). So I bought all new Square D breakers (not a bad idea anyway). I installed three tandem Square D breakers (204020's) in the bottom of the panel, and had plenty of breaker space left over.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JPW This is a Load Center not a 200 AMP Main Breaker as advertised
Very misleading description for the product. I was under the assumption that it is a 200 amp Main breaker load center when in fact it is just a load center rated at 200 amp. If I had the facts of what the product is verses what it is advertised, I would not have purchased it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Maverick Replaced Load Center for Less Than a Discontinued / Used Main Breaker
We would have a light flicker only sometimes and when I went to the panel, I noticed that one of the main aluminum service leads was warm…as high as 110 degrees F! (which occurs when there is a high resistance in the circuit). I determined that the main breaker was failing (originally installed in 1987). So instead of trying to find a replacement discontinued Challenger brand 200A main breaker I replaced the panel, main breaker, and all circuit breakers in the panel for less. [Home Depot online happened to be having a sale on electrical panels...online only] I highly recommend Square D. Don't buy cheaper brands.

Easy to install. Quality product. Separate ground terminal strip. Separate Neutral strip. Should cover the needs of most homes of 2800 sq. ft or less.
