Answer:
This is for two - single branch circuits for 110V service ( not for 220v service ). It emulates two regular 110v breakers but only takes up the space of one breaker. People use it when their box is full, so they don't have to add a subpanel. Beware that using too many of these can overload your box.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BEWARE! Two different versions exist. BEWARE! There are two different versions QO1515C and QO1515CP The "C" does not have a "hook" the "CP" has a "hook". The one that I bought has a hook (CP) and will not work in my box so I have to change to the "C". August 11, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Use only after research. Can get yourself into trouble later! This breaker is commonly purchased by homeowners and do-it-yourself people to allow more circuits in an otherwise full panel. But many panels are only UL-approved for a certain number of circuits/breakers. Using these tandem breakers may raise red flags and cause your panel to fail an electrical inspection and require more work later. You should research if these tanden breakers are allowed in your panel before using them. Check with an authorized Square D distributor (an electrical supply house) or Square D's technical support for assistance. Adding a subpanel is almost always the best alternative when your main breaker is full as many new circuits need to be protected by combination arc-fault breakers (which are not available in tandem form) January 21, 2013
