Product Overview

The Square D by Schneider Electric QO 30 Amp Two-Pole Circuit Breaker is intended for overload and short-circuit protection of your electrical system. The ANSI-certified and UL-listed unit is rated for 120/240 VAC and 10,000 AIR. All QO circuit breakers are equipped with the exclusive Visi-Trip indicator. When a QO Visi-Trip circuit breaker trips, the handle snaps to a midpoint position between "OFF" and "ON" and a highly visible, red indicator easily identifies the tripped breaker. This enables you to easily distinguish which breaker has tripped in a load center that may contain up to 42 different circuit breakers. QO circuit breakers have features no other manufacturer can offer. They come in many different sizes and can meet the needs of virtually every function in your home or business. These types of quality, industry exclusive products keep the Square D brand ahead of the competition and are builders' and electrical contractors' first choice in electrical protection.

Answer:
Yes the QO Circuit Breakers can be used to feed a home central air, they are HACR rated, which is required by code for that kind of load. You will need to verify that the QO230 (30A) breaker itself has been sized correctly for you unit. For specific application assistance please contact Schneider Electric direct at 888-778-2733.

Answer:
Simple, no. You must use the breaker amp that matches the wire size you are using. If there is a 20A breaker in place and you replace it with a larger breaker then the wire size will not match and the breaker will not trip to prevent a fire.

Here's what I do: These breakers pull free of the main power bar inside the breaker box (at one end of the breaker) and a securing bar (at the other end of the breaker). You must first remove the cover over the breaker panel. If you are unfamiliar with "electrical" stuff ... DO NOT attempt. Seek a certified electrical professional. I, generally, find it easiest to turn off the breaker, ensure the circuit is no longer powered, and remove the wire(s) from the breaker and gently pull them out of your way so that they won't make contact with other, potentially live, places in the breaker box. The breaker should pivot slightly or pull out of the box. I usually start from the center of the box and pivot it slightly towards the outside of the box. This is how I do it. Others may have a different method. I am NOT a trained or pro. electrician so I only discuss my PERSONAL way of changing out & installing new breakers. If you are unfamiliar with "electrical" stuff ... DO NOT attempt. Seek a certified electrical professional. Once you have one out, or if you have an "open" breaker slot, you will see how they install fairly easily. There are also videos and "how-to" documents online pertaining to this very topic.
Electrical current can be VERY dangerous! If you are in doubt of your skills or uncertain what you can or cannot touch once inside the panel, don't open the panel and consult a QUALIFIED, CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Professional Quality 30A Breaker Made the decision to use only Square D QO Series circuit breakers. Professional Quality! Robust design you can feel from the moment you pick one up. Firm "snap-in" style to the panel load bar. Large variety of amperage/voltage to fit all my needs. Securely holds the wire and allows for easy replacement with minimal effort. The trip window on the front of the breaker allows me to quickly identify a tripped breaker without need for test equipment. October 9, 2012
