CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 36 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product, operating as expected! The Square D Home Electronics Protective Device, while a little expensive, provides a good long-term value, along with great peace of mind. Super easy to install, and one of the higher ratings of joules suppression available - especially compared to the breaker-style solution. I have installed this on my "secondary" 100 AMP panel, and will be installing it on my "primary" 200 AMP house panel as well (I have a 300 AMP service into my house). I will likely be installing this on my family members electrical panels too. :) June 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A piece of mind Install was a breeze, but I had to move some breakers around to get the double pole breaker for the HEPD close to the main 100 AMP main cut off switch. This should be done so that the HEPD catches the surge before it reaches any other breaker below it. I kept the wires coming off the HEPD short as possible, as they explained in the documentation. Could not be happier with this product, but time will tell if something ever happens. I would not recommend installing this yourself if you are not comfortable are familiar of what you are doing. If not call a qualified electrician. March 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by I think it worked already. This unit has no indication that something has happened. But, my neighbor had a lightning strike between his well and the garage. It fried his well pump($350) and his TV($400) in the garage. My house did not have any problems. The two LEDs are still green. I had to move and add some breakers to install this HEPD as close to the Utility side as possible. I saw another review where the guy installed this on an existing circuit. The manufacture recommends that this is installed on it's own breakers, 20A. That's what I did. Do not add pigtails either. July 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Layered protection This device protects everything on all circuits connected to your panel, including those devices you typically could not use a surge protection power strip with(washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, lighting, etc). I used this in a layered approach. The whole house is protected with this surge protector, then expensive electronic equipment also has a surge protecting power strip. The unit is very easy to install. Simply remove a knockout on the panel and push this device through the knockout hole. Attach the nut to hold it firmly in place. Wiring is just a case of feeding the two black wires to each hot pole of a double pole breaker, and the white wire to the ground bar. It takes just a few minutes to do. The device has two LEDs, one shows it is powered up, the other shows the status. The top LED should always be lit, the bottom LED will be lit if it is working, and unlit if it needs replacing. This device protects your household equipment from internally and externally generated surges. If you can change a breaker, you can definitely install this device. With a limited warranty of five years with a $50,000 connected equipment warranty, it is inexpensive piece of mind. July 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great protection. Easier to install if your breaker box isn't flush mounted My breaker box has finished walls around it so even though the installation of the HEPD itself is relatively straightforward, it takes a little longer if you need to make a new hole in the wall. Fortunately there is also a flush mount kit available to secure the device. Then just as other reviews mention, the wiring is well described in the instructions. With many powerful storms coming through my area each summer, this device gives a little extra peace of mind. February 9, 2014
