Hi
I know how to screw a screw into a floor.
Can I just buy this replacement box and skip the kit?
Will the screw still snap off once in floor?
Thanks

Answer:
I would recommend buying the kit. The kit comes with a special spacer that will prevent the screw from being driven in too far and will also provide the needed resistance to snap the screw once it's driven in.

How far apart do you need to space the screws to quiet the floor? I realize that it will depend on the room or area, but ball park, how many per foot?

If you do it perfectly, you can probably quiet the squeak with 2-4 screws set close enough to the nail to keep the plywood from moving and rubbing against it. But, since it almost impossible to find that nail, and you might not get the screw into the joist below, it could take a lot more. Or, there could be more than one nail that is rubbing, and each one will need several screws. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I bought screws. Ummm, if you need extra screws for your Squeeeeeek B Gone kit, these will work... They do their intended purpose! August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BEST EVER!!! I SAVED $$$$$$$$ FLOORING CONTRACTOR SHOULD DO RESEARCH BEFORE TELLING CUSTOMERS THEY HAVE TO REPLACE FLOORING TO FIX ISSUE. THIS WORKS 100% PERCENT ONCE YOU DO IT RIGHT. August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works amazing This product is very hard to find but when I got it and used it I got no more squeaks. It is very time consuming when it comes to find the studs specially if your floor is carpeted but when you put the screws on the correct spot then it works great July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Effective solution for squeaking floors under carpet I've now installed over 750 of these screws in clients homes to resolve squeaking floors under carpeting without removing the carpet. It takes some patience and knowledge of floor structures to determine the layout and location of the floor joists beneath the subfloor. The smooth shanked screw included with the kit helps although I've broken 6-8 of them over the years. Once the layout is complete, installing and snapping off the screws is a breeze. They don't always eliminate all the squeaks, but all my clients have been pleased with the results. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well for price I originally bought the contractor pack with 500 screws. That pack was around $60 and came with 6 joist finding screws, 2 screw driving bits, and a metal tool for breaking the screws. I've seen the normal 50 screw pack, with its plastic breaking for $20. This replacement pack is well worth the price. You get 250 more screws for close to the price of buying the original 50 pack. May 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very poor quality ... NEVER BUY These screws break at different lengths. Really surprised that Home Depot carries such products. Extremely dissatisfied with the purchase May 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well The system works perfectly for the price. I bought the contractor pack of 500 screws and all the tools for 50 or 60 dollars. This pack is cost effective if you have a large area to do. This pack of additional screws is really good so you don't have to get another starter set of only 50 screws, especially when this set is only 5 dollars more for 5 times the screws. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job I had squeaky floors (original pine tongue in groove floor boards) in my 120+ year old home. One floor was already refinished and another not yet done. The holes left in the floor already refinished had to be carefully filled with polyurethane. The unfinished floor was a breeze. This is a great solution! March 22, 2016
