We moved into a 30 year old house and the floors squeeked everywhere. I saw this kit advertised and thought it worth a try. It does work 90-95%. It does have the tools to locate the floor beams but I found it easier to use an electronic stud finder. The screw system guides the scored screws to the right depth so you can snap off the screws at the floor level. Using the stud finder is faster but their method does work. A little patience will cure most of your squeeks.

Once you find the joist, which can be a little challenging, this product will solve the squeek. I used it for a squeek under carpeting and I found that it was easy to do with very little chance for a mess up. I also used it on a hardwood floor and I did find it a little challenging to find the joist. This caused me to drill a couple extra pilot holes that I needed to repair. However as I stated in my first sentence, once I found the joist the result was immediate. I would highly recommend this product.

We had a squeaky floor just inside a bedroom door. It drove me crazy but because the floor was carpeted I didn't think much could be done. I researched the Internet and kept in finding this product. I watched EVERY video about the product before finally deciding to buy it. What a joke! I found our floor joists and began the process of placing a screw about every 3 inches down the length of the joist. I put screws in the joists that ran along both sides of the squeaky area. NOTHING changed! My husband said the product would never work and I was sure to prove him wrong. This product is praised on videos, but don't fall for it. If the company is so sure of this product they should offer a satisfaction guarantee...

Years of a very sqeaky floor under our linoleum in the kitchen and all I needed was this magical kit! I only had to use 4 of the special screws and the squeaks are gone! So excited to only spend $20 and make the squeaks go away! My family is so proud of me! Once you have the joists located, using the kit is EASY! It worked great!

I was hesitant to use this based on some reviews and also the product literature states it may not fix all squeaks. Our carpet covered floor was so bad that you could feel the floor move up and down. I followed the instructions and much to my surprise, it worked. The nail heads break off very easy, and can't tell they are under the carpet. Thumbs up for me.

It worked great for me. It definitely takes some finesse and knowledge. First, you have to able to locate the floor joists. That is the most critical step. Once I located the floor joists, I marked them out with a string line and blue tape, to make sure I didn't miss them. I was able to successfully silence about 5 major squeeks in an upstairs bedroom. I used this product right through the carpet, just like the instructions said. If you're a pretty competent handyman, this product should work for you. If you're not too good with tools and things, then you're probably going to struggle with this. Worked good for me, though.

We followed the instruction to a tee on a hallway of a carpeted area, following the video done by the person who developed this product and a "This Old House" video. Both were very helpful. With these instructions we found the joists and screwed in 30 of the specialty screws. We still had the hallway squeaks-no change whatsoever. We even put six screws only inches away from each other on one joist Still the squeaks. We focused on the squeaky areas. Still the squeaks. We had high hopes for this DIY project. It just didn't work for us. Our house is 30 years old.
