Answer:
It can be used for a kitchen island only if you add a back panel to cover the entire back side of the vanity. The one that is there now only covers 2/3s of the back. For all the extra work to make that change you might as well buy an actual kitchen island.

Hello Berna and thank you for your question.
Berna back side of this vanity is unfinished MDF plywood. If you wish to use this vanity for a kitchen island (technically you can ) i would suggest to finish the back side with wainscot type of plywood.I've done this in the past with good results.
Hope this helps.

It is 60" with no room for 'give'. No way will fit in 58 1/2 space. My suggestion would be to get two smaller cabinets and place them together. Then use a filler piece to complete any smaller remaining space. For example you can use two 28/24 inch cabinets. There is a kick plate a few inches deeper inside of the decorative foot panel. It will hide the tile if it does not go all the way to the wall.

Answer:
Yes it can. But note this is really a personal preference so you might want to visit a home depot to determine if it will work for you. Also it depends on the type/size of the vessel sinks you plan on using.

Answer:
That depends upon the size of the vessel. Generally there is room, but because the cabinet is fairly high, your vessels will be really high. It seems to be designed for undermount or set in sinks.

It has enough for a standard double sink vanity top, but it might be a bit tall for vessel sinks. I am 5'8" and would probably have difficulty using vessel sinks on top of this vanity. I know my kids wouldn't be able to reach the sink.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value!! This vanity was perfect for our new bathroom. Great quality and price. It is heavy which was the only issue we had when installing it upstairs. October 15, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by design This 60" vanity base is designed where they don't have room to open doors all the way. It lacks filler beside doors to open properly. It was ordered 3/24 and shipped from Texas vendor on 3/27/15 to reach Atlanta by 4/2/15. Took too long to deliver the product. HD has direct drop shipment vs Lowes has RDC(regional distribution center) so it can deliver much quicker. April 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by still waiting The vanity arrived with a broken back panel. We are still waiting for the replacement. Not thrilled April 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Great fit. Quality fair. Real wood would have been nice. March 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Product! Constructed extremely well, packaged to protect the product, and easy to install. March 25, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The product has problems. I liked the design of this vanity and it seemed very sturdy. We are do-it-yourselfers, and it took four of us to get it into our bathroom. However, once we got it into the room, several problems appeared and we had to return the product. 1. The description stated that the vanity would accommodate a single centerset sink. There was no place for our plumbing, and we would have lost the use of the top middle drawer. 2. The two inside doors for the cabinet section were misaligned with a 1/2 in. gap at the top of the doors. The adjustable hinges would not function as stated because the middle dividers stick out too far. May 16, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice piece for the money The only problem we had was that the wallspace within which we had to place the vanity was about a 1/2 too narrow but this was NOT the "fault" of the vanity or Home Depot. Once a piece of drywall was removed, we slid the vanity in and all was well. LOVE the look of it and there is so much storage space. A nice piece of bathroom furniture at a very reasonable price. Keep in mind that there are many more expensive vanities available on the internet. This is clean, elegant and functional for a fraction of what you will pay for some higher up pieces. A BARGAIN worth the price! March 18, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not Buy We have ordered this vanity cabinet three times. The paint is dimpled on all of the door and drawer fronts of all three vanities. The manufacturer refuses to just ship the door and drawer fronts (the main part of the cabinet is OK as far as the paint). I am very unhappy with both the cabinet and home depot's response.
