Since I'll only be using a few oz a year, this bottle will last forever ... will it still be effective 3years from now ? 5 years ? 10 years ?
And , related to that, how to dispose of unused stabilizer ?

I've had some for 4 years and still okay. They do sell it in smaller than 32oz size. I buy 2 at a time. Lots of stuff to use it in.

Hi idler,

STA-BIL® has a guaranteed shelf life of 2 years after it has been opened provided it is kept tightly capped between uses.
Judge Sta-Bil by its color. If it is still bright red, it is fresh. If it dulls to dark red or brown, it will have lost its ability to preserve fuel stability.
Old Sta-Bil is harmless to fuel and should be disposed of by adding it to gasoline in a vehicle that will burn it relatively quickly. Adding a few ounces to a 15+ gallon fuel tank of an active truck or car is best.

Answer:
Sta-bil recommends 1 oz to treat 2 1/2 gallons of gas for regular usage. Use double that for long term storage. For one single gallon of gas I'd recommend 2-3 Tsps of Sta-bil. Just don't use your wife's measuring spoons. 1oz = 6 Tsps

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 60 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This Fuel Stabilizer gets your motor running! This product stabilizes gasoline, so that it will not degrade over time. Most of the time, if you leave fuel sitting in a tank for 6 months, you may expect trouble. This product allows you to side step that, and start your gas powered equipment without the difficulty of clogged fuel lines. This product protects gasoline for up to 2 years! April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product I had several gas containers that sat for months. I added the fuel stabilizer and had know concerns with the fuel. It saved 20 gallons of fuel, time & money. April 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by stabil I've always used this product and my equipment starts. April 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Essential for small engine health I've been fighting with poorly maintained power equipment since I was 10 years old. My father wouldn't even change the oil in the equipment. In addition all of my power equipment is curb pickups or dirt-cheap craigslist / garage sale finds. I'm no stranger to blowing out my right shoulder in an attempt to start difficult equipment. After paying attention to product manuals and seeing that 2-cycle engine require 89 Octane or higher I switched to Shell Premium, Synthetic 2 cycle oil and Sta-Bil. I notice a difference in ALL my equipment, not just 2-cycle equipment after only 1 tank with this combination. EVERYTHING starts with 1 pull. Even after sitting all winter. I do as some others have posted, fill a large 5 gallon container at the beginning of the season then mix 2 cycle at the end with whats leftover. I've done this for 6 years now and everything continues to run optimally. I just made my father by a 5 gallon can and I mixed up some sta-bil 360. I cannot wait to see the results. I had to sit his lawnmower out in the sun for an hour before I could get it to start I rated this product poor for features because at the time I purchased it, it included fuel injector cleaner. Which is something that I think is critical, but it's no longed included and you have to purchase an entirely different product. I like the piece of mind that it was included, but now it's not. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fuel Stabilizer Bought it just for when the fuel in my gas machines get older. I use the Stabilizer to further the use of the gas I have leftover! March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fuel Great product that I have been using for a very long time. February 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent product The price is too high for a small amount of liquid February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stabil works for me I have used stabil for many years now. We have an emergency gasoline generator and store 7-5 and 6 gallon cans of gas through the winter at temps which stay about 42 degrees. In the spring and sometimes all the way into early fall I finally finish off what gas is left over and even when mixing it with oil for those small engines the gas is still good to use. I also use it in my garden tractor which sits in my unheated shed and have never had a problem starting it even below freezing. January 12, 2016
