Customer Questions & Answers

Battery and spare key

I would assume this runs on battery. How would you open it if it runs out of battery? If the spare key is outside of the box, it would render the whole point of having a safe useless. But if the spare key is inside of the box, how would that help if it runs out of battery and I didn't know about it?

Is this a fire proof safe?

Asked by: Mike
Howdy Mike, This biometric locking safe is not rated for being fire proof. Fire ratings are evaluated by testing to see if safes withstand varying furnace heat for specific amounts of time. For example, the UL Class 350 1-hour fire rating means that the internal temperature of the safe will not exceed 350°F for at least 1 hour when exposed to external temperatures over 1700°F. A safe may have a 1-, 2-, or 3-hour time classification. Additionally, safes will be heated and then dropped from heights reaching 30 feet to test against explosions. With this all said, metal itself is resistant to fire for various amounts of time depending on what type of fire and the proximity of the flames to the safe. Stay Safe, Coach Dave

Customer Reviews

Personal Safe with Biometric Lock is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pretty Weak Biometrics Set up was definitely not as easy as it looks in several user videos that can be found on YouTube. Recording a single fingerprint took over 15 minutes and a multitude of attempts. Key did not turn well and I was unable to read anywhere that says you have to hold the dial in place to be able to turn the key. Even setting up the digital security code was not as easy as it should have been. To top it all off, after set up was complete and it had been placed in a secure location, the batteries died in less than 24 hours, rendering the biometric and numerical codes useless. The safe appears to be built solidly, and if I were using it for something other than storing my valuables, then maybe. I can't recommend it and it will be going back. Really bummed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the price. Wasn't expecting nor did I get a heavy duty safe but for the price paid it was worth it. Biometric seems to work good but it's almost faster to key in the code.
