Answer:
The nose is 2" high from top to bottom, but hangs down only 1.375" over the existing tread. I think you'll be able to see part of your old tread at the bottom of the nose.

I see how these will cover the stair treads, but how do you cover a landing where the stairs turn?

Answer:
I have no experience with this but have the same issue. My thinking is that I will find a retread board that is long enough to cover the front edge, then fill in behind with wood of same thickness and variety.

How thick, or deep, is the front trim that covers the existing tread.

Although the tread is .625, the extra dimension of height of the trim on the front of the tread is not listed--this is a vital consideration in planning installation over existing treads.

0.625 in. x 11.5 in. x 42 in. Unfinished Red Oak Retread is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Buy the pre-finished treads I finished the treads myself and found that the treads were impossible to stain consistently. The treads are made of strips of wood and each has a different hardness and acceptability of the stain. I had stripes of dark and light stain and the only way to get them consistent was to darken them all. They look fine, but much darker than I originally intended. The staining/finishing process was a lot of work and I would have gladly paid the extra amount to have the finished treads that I could have returned if I was not satisfied with their appearance.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice looking, but several were warped These stair treads look nice enough, and when stained, are beautiful. However, I had to return and re-order three times because in each shipment, some of the treads were significantly warped.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product, Easy to work with and stain Great product if you want to Re-tread your stairs. Easy to work with. Best advice is to buy the stair tread measuring tool, will save headache in the long run,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stairtek0.625 in. x 11.5 in. x 42 in. Unfinished Red Oak Retread WE first cut the retreads to length. They were stained and three coats of polyurethane. We then glued and nailed the retreads in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! This product is awesome. My husband and I ripped out carpeting on our stairs and then installed these retro retreads. The stairs are gorgeous and much easier to keep clean than the carpeting. We bought the stair step tool for measuring each stair that is sold separately. It sped up the process and was totally worth the $20. If you have tools (table saw, compound miter saw, etc...) and carpentry skills these should not be a problem to install yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grain match was dead on, no warpage, packed in boxes-excellent. I must say that I was impressed when I opened the boxes and found styrofoam between the treads to protect each piece. No damage was found on the 18 treads in the order. Grain selection on each piece was excellent. Minor sanding before staining was required as with any production woodworking supplies. Overall a 5 for quality, speed of delivery and price

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for prefab stair case The treads allowed me to cover the bull nose of the prefab unit without having to cutting it off. The bull nose and cove of the retread was long enough to cover the old tread and the edge of the riser without any extra effort. I will use them again.
