What is the length of the trim that hangs over the front edge of the tread that covers the top of the riser

Asked by: Florida
The trim drops down by 1 and 3/16 inches below the bottom of the retread.

How are these "retreads" attached to the old treads? Mine are plywood, and would not be expanding or contracting with hunmidity changes. Nails, glue?

Asked by: Woodman
The retread is secured with urethane-based construction adhesive like LOCTITE PL Premium Polyurethane Tan Construction Adhesive. Don't use water-based adhesive like most of the Liquid Nails products.

My rough plywood stair depth is 11 in. this will leave me 1/2 in short on the inside measurement, do you make a deeper tread that 1/2-1" deeper?

I would like to use standard riser material but I would have to use 1/2 in material in order to fill the gap. The half inch material would be too wide to match the the overhang on the front of the tread.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Finally removed the carpeting from our stairs. These retreads are beautiful. After staining my husband put three coats of polyurethane on. Sanding after each ,of course. They are worth every cent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect solutions for bad stairs! My husband and I are re-habbing a 100-year old house. The stairs were wonky and ugly and our first thought was just to recover them in carpet. With some research, we found the Stairtek Retreads. After a little trimming, some stain and finish, our old Arts and Crafts style home has a new focal point -- the gorgeous oak staircase. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great value I did my homework an compared pricing at several different retailers and these stair replacement treads were almost half the price at Home Depot and the quality was excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, not Great Quality The treads are fine, but the white oak from which they are made is soft and of inferior quality to that which you would get at a good lumber yard. The treads are made from 5-6 strips, glued together, and the manufacturer exercised very little care in matching grains. They are easy to work with, and having these saved me the time of making my own treads. So, there is a sacrifice in quality for the ease and convenience of these retreads. I made my own risers at a fraction of the cost of the matching risers. I have another staircase to do, and might look at other manufacturers of retreads before going with these. Or, I just might mill my own from high quality white oak.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ugly staircase transformation We are still waiting for the contractor to install the treads but they look good. I have sealed each one with polyuretheane and they are ready. I am sure they will be beautiful after they are installed.
