Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice grain, easy to stain I bought 13 of these and they were all perfect on one side. There was one that might have been usable on either side with a little sanding. My old treads were 41 inch, so these were perfect size. I also bought the Stairtek plastic tread template. This made the measuring and cutting much easier. Very satisfied with these treads, a difference between day and night from my old carpeted staircase. And I had them shipped free to my local HD and picked up at my convenience. October 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Builder grade wood that should be listed as finish/stain grade I ordered 21 of these treads. I got two extra in case there were some that had really bad spots on them on both sides. Turns out, even though there were some that had bad sides, not one board was unusable on both sides. Also, I truly expected to have to sand these a lot and to throw away a couple due to knots and marks, but, they are all perfect in my opinion. There are some knots and marks here and there but none that were that bad and the finish was already sanded more than enough for me to the point that I didn't have to sand any of them. I would suggest you buy one or two extras just in case you get a bad one, but all in all, these were much better quality than I expected and the only thing I had to do to them after installing them is to polyeurathane them which I have yet to do but they are amazing. Very solid, and great look, to the point of which I decided not to stain them and leave the wood grain showing. Also, the price on these were the best I could find anywhere for decent red oak, and that's not all, home depot literally delivered all of them to my door for FREE!!! Thanks home depot, you are awesome. July 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful grain and finished nicely in a dark walnut stain Very happy with the quality. Installed 14 of these treads in my home. a Light sanding with 220 and took the stain nice and even. I finished with a satin poly to match the walnut laminate flooring and it looks amazing! Rated 3 out of 5 by Cheap stair tread The surface of the tread is not as hard as respected. Inside material was soft. Doubly, it can't suffer for a liquid spilling on top. June 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good one side, some fill "Builder grade" means they are glued-up (3 to 5 pieces per tread) solid red oak pieces, Good One-Side. A few (2 out of 14) had bug holes or small imperfections, filled with wood putty, on the "good" side. Minimal knots, typical (for oak) large-grain look. The treads are rounded on one side (the "front" of the tread). I would have preferred slightly wider treads for more "overhang" but these are a very good value. I did not stain them, simply coated with a floor polyurethane. September 30, 2013
