The good thing was that it did a good job on small stuff. Larger stuff you have to cut it up into small pieces to get into the machine - pain in the neck. The horrible part is that it is warranted from GXI Outdoor Power. Apparently, a bolt on the body got loose in the first 2-3 hours running. My guess is that the cutting blades cut the bolt off and tore a hole in the case (see picture). Further damage by continued use until I noticed it. As you might expect, the machine is very loud and I was wearing ear protection so I didn't notice anything "sound wise" when this happened. The problem was getting warranty service. GXI apparently had 2 places. One told me I had to pay for everything except parts - not what the warranty says. After a week, a number of email and phone calls, without success, to GXI. I returned it to Home Depot and got a refund. About the refund. It's 30 days from order date, NOT the date you pick it up, so be careful. I guess it's been decades since I've had such an issue, so found this one very frustrating. I'm not sure I'd buy another product supported by GXI, at least in this area (south of Atlanta, GA). They just don't have the support network.

Chipper was easy to assemble and started on first pull. I've used it several times a week for about 6 weeks clearing honeysuckle from several acres. Chipper is terrific on on green wood making short work of piles of limbs.
Very glad I didn't buy a smaller chipper.
Guard, plate with rubber piece, on input tube was causing issues getting twisty honeysuckle feed in. Removed the guard and chipper is much more usable. YMMV (I'm not condoning anyone else removing the guard)

Was easy to assemble (took about 45 minutes after all parts were removed from the box) and started the first time after adding fuel and oil. Had a mix of leaves, wood, and bushes to chip and shred. All fit in three trash bags. Did not have one clog. Did have to use a stick to help some of the brush to be pick-up by the shredder. All & all, it worked great!!

Very easy to use and the features are excellent. Only issue that I had was the rivets on the input guard/gauge plate all sheared off within the first hour of use.
This is the first Chipper/Shedder that I have owned so I do not have any other experiences to compare it to. Living on 10 acres in a high risk fire zone, near national forest in CO, so I need to keep the trees trimmed and definitely do not want to burn any of the small limbs that accumulate. Purchasing a good Chipper Shredder was my best option.
Purchased this model while on a sale promotion, otherwise I might have purchased a smaller HP model if only available at retail price, but am very satisfied with this purchase.
You will need a lot of muscle on the rope pull to start the engine. Not like starting the lawn mower.

Plenty of horsepower. Started on the 2nd pull. Chipper blades seem to dull pretty quickly, however.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shadetree68 Everything we needed
The product was easy to assemble with the instructions but we watched the video available online anyways. Amazingly complete package. It had all the fasteners needed, the tools required to assemble it, a spark plug wrench for servicing, and safety glasses for when you are using the chipper. The packaging was awesome and you would have had to run it over with a truck to damage it. We added gas and oil and it started right up, well on the third pull. After that it started first pull every time. We stuck a 2 1/2" gnarly not-filled pecan branch in and it chewed right through it. I've bought a lot of tools over my fifty plus years on this planet and this is one of the few times I have been happy with every aspect. The only thing I would like to see added is a throttle control. It starts and runs at one speed all the time. I know this is how lawn mowers and everything powered works now but I just can't seem to adjust. Maybe in another fifty years.

I bought this thing last fall, I assembled it and put the oil in but never got around to starting it before winter came. Well today (April 16, 2015) I put in gas and started it for the first time and the blade chamber (whatever you call it) practically exploded! Something blew a hole in the side of it and it goes clank, bam, boom, etc. I scrambled to shut it off and then I came here to write this review. Total piece of junk, obviously wasn't put together right or misaligned or something at the factory. Never even got to put a single freaking leaf through it...

It was a little hard to assemble because some of the bolt holes didn't line up properly. And, the fit of the leaf shroud could be better (wood chips fly up thru gaps in the side of it when chipping large branches). Also, it is a bit cumbersome (because of the warning cover) to put leaves and small twigs down the leaf chute. But, it started easily and gobbles stuff up fairly well.
