Product arrived damaged from vendor (damaged in shipping) and it took almost a month to get replacement parts due to processing with carrier. Oil check/fill/drain is awkward. Low fuel consumption has been a plus. Unit has been easy to start over the past year. Unit has proved to be adequate for home use.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chuck decent but light duty chipper
Purchased about 2 months ago. One of the plastic pieces was cracked out of the crate; I had to super-glue it. Also had to redrill some of the pre-drilled holes to line up. My main complaint is the intake throat. It will only take a 2.25 inch stick if it's perfectly straight and smooth. I takes a lot of hatchet work to trim all the side branches and stubs off a limb. Also, the chips go everywhere. Wear a floppy hat or they will get all down your shirt. And, do NOT use a plastic trash can for the discharge. The exhaust is directly under the discharge chute and will burn a hole in the can. They give you a funnel to fill the oil, but don't tell you what the capacity is, so by the time you know you're full there's still some in the funnel, which ends up flowing out onto the machine.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Eagar Good until the engine is warm
The CH2 chipper was extremely well packed. Looked great out of the box. Ease of assembly: average.
Filled it with oil and gas. Followed startup instructions. Started great. Ran good until engine was warmed up and then started surging as if gas flow was intermittent. Shut it down, checked everything. Gas tank was leaking at front seam, but couldn't find an obvious problem that caused the surging. Called mfg. They directed us to nearest repair shop......47 miles away. To be continued.
I can't recommend a piece of equipment that does not run properly within first few hours of ownership, as well as costing me money and time to get it to the repair shop.

Assembly took longer than expected.
Some plastic parts did not fit as well as required. The chipped material leaks from around the chipping chamber.
The engine starting sequence took a while to understand.
It sure would help if a fitting or hose was added to direct used oil to a container.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Eagar Still do not have shredder
The machine was taken to authorized warranty repair shop October 18, 2013. GXI, the manufacturer took almost a month to respond with authorization to fix the shredder. It is December 6, 2013 and I still do not have the machine. The shredder has been repaired, but GXI has not paid the repair bill and the shop will not release the shredder to me until the $170 repair bill is paid. So, almost 8 weeks after I took the shredder to the factory authorized repair facility that is 45 miles from my home, I still do not have the use of a piece of equipment I own. GXI customer service is extremely poor and they are apparently unwilling to pay their "authorized" repair facility for replacing the defective motor. What's my recourse????? Just wait????

Unit was easy to assemble although one of the assembly bolts would not go in (not critical). It works great and is a durable machine.

This is the third Chipper Shredder that I have owned and used. It is by far the best. My 1-Acre lot has a lot of beautiful trees and I've kept about 1/2 of it natural. I use it to chop up the leaves and branches that fall. The choppings make good fertilizer for the trees. The unit is easy to move around and, by letting the input shoot lay on the ground, it is easy to feed. The only complaint I have is that it blows to chopped material to far but I use an old blanket tied to the discharge spout to limit the distance.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jimmy My Maine Yard Toy
I purchased this chipper/shredder for multiple reasons. Rather than purchase mulch for our yard, we decided to use the limbs and leaves to mulch our flowers and plants. We use this equipment at our second home in Maine, but are permanent residents of Florida. I purchased it last October and when I returned to Maine in mid November for our final 2013 visit, I mulched leaves and limbs during a 3 day period of time. The equipment was easy to put together, was easy to maneuver around the property, and performed well. I found that smaller limbs did not work as well in the self feeder as the larger limbs, but overall worked well. I will be returning in April, and expect to find many leaves and limbs, from this harsh winter, to utilize this equipment.
