Can this be used to power a house, with an electrician doing the necessary wiring with breakers or switches?

I just want to make sure before I purchase this on sale, that it can be used for this purpose. I understand it may not be able to power all the items in my house simultaneously based on the load vs. the 8000 watt update, but want to make sure that a skilled and licensed electrician could wire it in such a way as to with a plug so it could be used as a house generator as well as a portable unit.

Yes with qualifications. YOu'll have to pick and choose what you run. Look at the on line wattage charts to get an idea.

It can be used for such purposes. Obviously it all depends on the size of your house and what the load is. 8,000 watts is a good size generator so it will power up a central AC which is about 2,000-3,000 watts. The manual includes the average loads different electrical items carry to give you an idea of what capacity you will have. But an electrician will know what to do.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Buy Worked great 1st yr. I ran it monthly to keep it conditioned. I'm in Central Texas, near College Station. After 18 months the digital display went out. At 24 months all the fuel lines and rubber hoses had rotted. At 26 months the pull start mechanism flew apart. Two of three local small engine repair shops won't even touch it. They say quality and engineering are worst. The third shop would add 50% to their $ 65/hr labor rate to "try" to work on it. After having house wired to accept this. I have no back up power. I kept it in an area with overhead cover and it was not in direct sun rays. June 15, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far, so good. A solid performer....... This generator looks and functions as advertised although it is lacking a fuel level gauge which would be useful. It is relatively quiet under load and provides "close to clean" power -- clean enough not to damage sensitive electronics especially if they have power conditioners. Support is great through GXI International; very responsive on questions and any parts that may seem to be not up to par. The all-weather feature is a nice precaution not offered by others, even if the unit is placed in a covered area. Coupled with the appropriate transfer switch, this generator provides a good base for dampening the impact of home power outages. December 6, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely disappointed I have had this generator since Dec. 2011. Fortunately I have not had to use it, haven't loss power. But still I start it every 3 months and run it for a while just for good measure. Empty the gas and put in stabilizer every three months. Big storm in NY this past week so I'm getting the generator ready and it won't start for anything. Just will not start. A total disaster and $1,300 down the drain. Not even 10 hours of usage out of it. Extremely frustrated! January 31, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking product and powerful. Just has some design issues putting it together. Great generator. Very quiet for the size. Only issue is the cables for the battery. Need to be longer so you can take off the battery and screw on the cable to the posts. Had an issue with the negative cable. Since it was short and I had to pull it to reach the battery post the cable post came off the wire. Had to call an order a new one. They sent the wrong ones for another generator. Had to order a new one and they got it right. Once I got it all hooked up and got the gas in it it fire right up. Have not had to use it yet for a power outage but looking forward to using it. Have it set up to power the whole house. August 2, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Below avarage When i recieved the generator and opened the box there where parts laying all over, I couldnt find the two bolts that help the wheels in place, after I moved the generator they where laying under the generator. There is only one receptacle on the generator, so you have to use the outlets on the detachable controls. The battery was somewhat difucult to hook up, it keep shorting out. The engine started quickly however it surges even under partial load. The instruction manual was poorly put together, half the pages where in spanish but where all out off sequence. The cable that comes with the generator is not rated to distrubute the full load. I would not buy this generator again. February 13, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poorly I own the 8000 all weather, had it for two months and it stopped generating power it was like pulling teeth to get it fixed but home depot did fix it, now it's like a year and a half later same thing, home depot said they would look at it but can't guarantee anything. I don't recommend this generator to anyone. January 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The generator performed flawlessly during the MD power outage in July 2012 July 2012 was the second time I had to use the generator for an extended period and I'm pleased with its performance. The generator runs the entire house with all appliances pluged and ready to go. The circuit breaker on the generator only popped once when my wife ran the hair dryer and iron at the same time. It ran continuosly without shutdown for 72 hours in temps in the upper 90's to100's. Fuel consumption was as advertized and it ran pretty close to 12hrs on a single tank. The only drawback is the weight of generator with the wheels provided. After sitting a while the tires develop flat spots that make it unpleasent to move. The Tires are really to small for this generator and its heavy when trying to move it. overall its a great buy. July 19, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great item for what it is used for had a bit of trouble getting the battery installed and had to remove the engine cover to get it in. started right up after adding the oil and gasoline. hopefully it wont need to be used very often as its for emergency use only at this time, but, i have it wired for my home and when we tried it after getting the wiring finished it powered my all electric furnace and the refrigerator and lights all over the house. not all lights at the same time, but, every one i tried individually came on when the switch was turned on, while the furnace ran!
