Product Overview

The FatMax 25 ft. Auto Lock Tape Measure has a blade that automatically locks at the length to which it is extended and includes an oversized detachable framing hook that easily grabs studs. Depressing the button converts the tool to manual mode, enabling it to become a traditional retractable tape. The auto-locking feature allows users to control tape retraction, which helps to prolong blade life and reduces the risk of injury. At 1-1/4 in. wide, the tape is easy to read and features an 11 ft. standout to simplify single-person usage. A BladeArmor coating protects the blade from tears, kinks and rips for lasting durability.

  • 1-1/4 in. wide blade offers easy readability
  • Onboard hook storage securely holds framing hook when not in use
  • BladeArmor coating protects the blade from kinks, rips and tears
  • Manual mode disengages lock for speed marking
  • Backed by Stanley lifetime limited warranty

Does Stanley FatMax 25 ft. Auto Lock Tape Measure have warranty

Asked by: Smoky
I'm sure it has a warranty but some stores probably will require you to have the receipt especially if you don't want an exchange.

Can this be true? This tape is 6.745" X 7.062" and has only metric markings on it? Why is it not marketed as an 8 meter rule?

Suppose that it does read in metric if sold in Canada. If it was purchased in the US, guessing it's possible that one got accidently packaged improperly. Mine is in fractional denominations and as always, easy to read.

That said, after seeing it in the store and extending it out a couple of times, locking and unlocking the blade thought, this is the best think since sliced bread. Sadly, I'm thinking I was wrong. The first one made it about an hour using it outside on a project before the auto blade lock would no longer hold the blade. I took it back to Nome Depot and thought I had just gotten a defective one. I exchanged it and on the next project, this one inside, lasted for almost a day and now it wont hold he blade ether??? Think this should be an easy fix and love the tape measure other than that but "Please" Stanley, Get It Right. Having arthritis, the easy function of the lock is great but it needs to continue working. Thanks

I've always thought tape measures were pretty much the same...until I bought this Stanley Fatmax. I have extended the tape out eight feet, and the tape did not bend in the middle, requiring me to straighten it out and try again. It's an Auto-Lock, which means that the tape stays extended until you push the button to rewind it. This may seem to be a small thing, but if you're working alone, it is a very useful feature. The last bit that makes this tape measure unique is the snap-on, snap-off clip that allows you to hook the tape end from the top or either side, giving you many more options you've never had before. Most other tapes can only hook from the bottom. All of these innovations are small improvements, but taken as a whole, they make this the best tape measure I have ever owned. Buy it, and I'm sure you'll agree.

The old Fat Max was the best tape measure ever made until they made this. The only problem with the old Fat Max was the pain in the neck locking mechanism. That has been remedied with this Auto lock button. You can set the button to automatically lock the tape every time you pull it out, then push the spring loaded button to rewind the tape, or set the button to work like a regular tape measure.

It does a good job of that. The tape does not need to be locked before it retracts which is a very nice feature and the button to retract the tape is easy to use. The only reason I gave this a 4 is because the tape is still kind of flimsy. I can't get out 8 feet or so and the tape sags and bends. I thought it would be sturdier.

I really like the auto locking feature, but the tape itself doesn't match up with the fat max brand because it is just to flimsy compared to the other fat max tapes I have had in the past, that really is the only thing from me giving the tape a higher rating. Stanley, make the tape stronger or more stiff and you'll have a winner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Tool Has very good reach, over 10-11' without collapsing. Like the controlled retract feature that allows the recoil to stop and start with the control of the button.
