Customer Questions & Answers

How To Change Blades

I was able to remove the old blade without difficulty, but am having trouble getting he new one in.
Asked by: Marv
With the blade button as far forward as it will go the tip of the blade carreier should barely be showing. Hold the button down and slide the blade in till it clicks into tha catch. Releae the button and retract the blade with the slide button on top. If anything remains sticking out the balde is not in far enough. It has to grab the notch closes to teh tip in side the knife.

Quick-Change Retractable Knife is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of all worlds. The only reason this tool is not the highest ranked knife available is that some people didn't figure out how to use the quick release (round yellow button) for changing the blade. Yes there is a screw to open up the knife as per the original Stanley, but it is only there for ease of maintenance if anything goes wrong inside. The top thumb slider allows one handed selection of 5 different positions: -blade fully retracted (also exposes blade in the 1/2" slit for tip-less cuts) -blade deployed just the tip for scoring/cutting paper -blade deployed half way for shallower cuts (or to better stabilize blade) -blade deployed fully -pushed into an unlocked fully extended position for blade exchange The bottom grip opens easily for extra blade storage and it has never taken me more than 15 seconds to exchange one. When performing multiple cuts without retracting the blade sometimes the position of the thumb slider on top is also where I want to push down with my thumb when varying my grip, but the alternative would be a slider on the side that is harder to reach with one's thumb when extending/retracting the blade between each cut. Finally the construction and feel of the knife is that of a cheap and reliable workhorse assembled from parts. It rattles a bit, doesn't look too pretty, but if it breaks you can fix it and it certainly gets the job done.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A waste of valuable time This knife is a nightmare to put together. It comes with no instructions and the YouTube video for it is a joke. Three of us have tried and none of us can put this thing back together! I'll be sticking with what I know works, a simple utility knife!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Knife I've ever owned I've bought several knives but this is the easiest to change the blade, fill replacement blades, extend or retract, change blades and for a cost that is less then many of the others, It's also sleek and easy to handle. Its a great knife and inexpensive
