Nothing comes out of the tip / working end. All of the melted glue comes out the entrance / loading end. Waiting more than 20 minutes and nothing but a bloody mess. No functionality at all. So what am I missing here?

It seems as though the device is blocked, clogged up with some sort of a blockage. Is that normal?

Unit heats up, glue sticks go in the loading, Nothing comes out the tip, Melted glue comes pouring out the loading place with a hot sticky mess.

My only assumption is a defective unit with some sort of blockage in the heating end of the device.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Semi-working Glue Gun Sometimes you need to plug and unplug the gun when it does not heat up after 4 minutes. I also turn the temperature switch from high to low and then back to high. Voila! the gun would then work. June 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great and effective product. When all other forms of adhesives failed, the hot glue gun was perfect for gluing beer bottle caps to a piece of plywood. Just needed a ring around the edges and a minute or two and the cap was on for good. Just need to be careful when using this cause its really easy to burn your fingers with the glue. January 21, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Odds of two bad guns I don't know if I'm incredibly unlucky, if I missed something in the instructions, or if this is a bad product. Steps I followed: 1. Plug into AC socket 2. Put one mini stick in the back 3. After about 5-6 minutes, the stick was going into the gun, and I put in a second stick as the instruction says (for first time use). 4. For the next 45 minutes to an hour, squeese trigger every so often. Try squeezing trigger 150 times (mix of slow and quick). Move gun to sunlight. Try pushing 2nd stick in gently with a screwdriver. 5. Get frustrated. Not a drop from the tip on either glue gun I purchased. Did I miss something, or is this just a dud product? August 17, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor directions The packaging and the instructions do not specify the glue stick diameter, and since I've not used a glue gun before, I assumed the stick diameters for this type of glue gun are all the same. The gun said it was dual-temp, so I bought LoTemp Cool Glue at Walmart, and found out later that these 'mini size' have too small a diameter for this gun (as other reviewers have mentioned, the mini sticks don't work). The glue doesn't flow, and now I have a hot mess in the glue gun (some glue came out the back end and flowed over the handle ... and my finger). I now bought 'full size' sticks, and we'll see where this goes. It might be a good glue gun, but I haven't got past first base on this one ... February 28, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wouldn't buy it again Item works but not well enough to recommend. Particularly annoying is the so-called "folding stand". When folded in storage position, least little disturbance will knock it off the tool requiring reinstalling it in its not -very-positively-registered position. That's after you find it if it falls away from your work position. Additionally, the stand when deployed to its use position does not present a wide enough stance to keep the tool upright dependably. Small disturbance from cord motion (or just about any contact) is enought to knock the tool over. Was attracted by tool's dual-temperature feature vwhich seems to work though I have used that feature only a few times. Can't comment on durability issues either - yet - suspect I may not as I will probably be looking for a better tool before long. Likely not from Stanley or from Home Depot. Would return it but suspect it will cost me more time and travel expense than the refund. Will probably keep it as a loaner. I realize there's a limit to what one should expect from a $13 item but as a long time tinkerer/handy person who owns quite a few tools made by (or at least branded as) Stanley - some over 80 years old passed to me by my father and grandfather - this one isn't doing much for the brand. Maybe it's more a commentary on the effect of the rise of the Business and Marketing Team over the Designers and Engineers when decisions are made to squander brand value by putting the brand on a tool that would be less disappointing if it just said "X" on the label. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Stanley Glue gun I have had this glue gun for about 3 months. I use it in a high pack work environment where I get payed by the job. I figured Stanley makes good tools why not give it a try. First off the plastic leg support would not stay on or in place so I glued it in the open position. Problem solved just a pain to store. Then after about a week was in full swing working set it down to cut some pieces went to pick it up and the plastic foot was broke off. ( I was the only person in the room.) Fix glue it back on. Now after 2 months of use glue is leaking out of the seams in the front. Guess Stanley needs to go back to the drawing board and fix the leg problems maybe a metal stand of some type like now companies. October 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst purchase ever Did not work at all, despite using the recommended type of glue. Useless; but because I had not saved the sales receipt, it is now resting in some garbage dump, together with my $12.97. March 4, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by don't buy it The instructions were simple, put two sticks in and plug it in and pull trigger for glue. Yep, nothing happened no glue, did not work at all, but it did get hot. Do not waste your time on this item. February 17, 2015
