I have had this toolbox for about 10 years now. Originally bought at sams when they carried them. It has held up very well and made several moves around the country. Just recently had the top struts go out but replaced them for about $25. Drawers still work great and support a lot of weight. My only complaint is that the drawers have to be locked to keep from moving(only a problem if not on level ground). All and all has held up great. I'm glad to see I can get them through Home Depot. Thinking about getting another as I have run out of space in my other toolboxes yet again. On a side not my father has the bigger stainless version they used to sell, I wish it was still available as it to is the same age and in perfect condition.

I wanted a good enough chest foe my toy hauler. This is compact and up to the task. Drawers not quite as smooth as high end stuff, and they only latch with lock. But on balance I am pretty happy with this.

A surprise from my wife. I picked up the boxes at the store and brought them home to assemble, which was quite easy. Sent pics to wife to show her and say, "THANKS!" Immediately she noticed a couple of dents, which had escaped my attention - I was too excited. I went to HD Customer Service the next day and showed them the pictures. They issued a credit for 10%, which was satisfactory to me. I really like the unit and believe it is well made, which is why I didn't return it. NOTE: the shipping boxes were not injured in any way, so the items were boxed with the dents on them. As my wife mentioned, they will probably look a lot worse for wear a few years down the road, so it isn't a big deal - and the dents weren't really bad, so all's well that ends well.
If not for the boxes arriving with dents, I would have rated 5 stars.

For the money (I paid $300), it is very strong, sturdy and great quality. So much better than others I had looked at at this price range! It looks awesome, and I'm very happy with it. It is pretty heavy, you'll probably want some help moving it and lifting the sections when assembling (which is straightforward otherwise). Its quite big, make sure you check the packed dimensions vs your vehicle before you pick it up.

I've never had a tool chest or even a decent tool box, so this Steel Glide Tool Chest is pretty impressive to me. It arrived via a freight shipper and was flawless upon delivery. Assembly involved attaching the wheels, handles, and the top to the bottom. It took me about 30 minutes because I didn't want to scratch or ding it. I'm not sure of the weight but it's a tad heavy. The large wheels however allow it to be moved around effortlessly. The drawers slide smoothly empty or full. I personally like the stainless finish of the drawers over the all black tool chest. What sets this tool chest apart from the rest is its weight capacity of 675 pounds. Other 27 inch chest and even larger ones have a lower weight capacity. Also you have the included drawer liners. The liners are black and cut perfectly for the drawers. I can open and close the drawers, also move the entire chest around and everything inside stays just where I placed it. The liners are an extra touch that I really appreciate. At the moment, my tool collection is pretty sad but what I do have is now nicely organized. My garage also looks pretty sharp with this beauty against the wall.

This review is for the new Steel Glide 27 inch 8-Drawer Tool Chest and Cabinet!
WOW! What a beautiful tool chest! (Please see pictures)
The tool chest and cabinet arrived via Freight Truck in two separate boxes. Each box was manufactured to hold these very heavy pieces. I love the fact that the engineers that designed and built this unit put a lot of thought into the packaging. There is nothing worse than buying a metal tool chest and having it arrive dented from a poorly constructed box. Both boxes were quadruple reinforced and bound with strapping to keep everything from moving.
Out of the boxes, I had minimal assembly to do. Let's start with the bottom cabinet. This bottom cabinet came with 4 casters, 2 locking that swiveled and 2 fixed, 2 handles, 4 anti-slip pads for inside the drawers, and an instruction manual. All I had to do was ratchet on 4 bolts for each caster and then 6 bolts for each of the 2 handles. The top chest had the same 2 handles and 6 bolts.
Next, I stacked the chest on top of the cabinet, lined up the sides to make them square plum with the back and bolted on the "L" shaped brackets to secure the chest to the cabinet.
Once built, I made sure the keys worked in the locks and laid down the anti-slip mats.
Summary: Built extremely well, the drawers glide without hesitation, all the seams meet together, the locks are quality, the casters are chunky and solid, definitely not easily breakable and can withstand a lot of weight and years of use.

This is a heavy duty, solid tool cabinet. Assembly was easy, however, you may need assistance setting the top cabinet up to bolt to the bottom (a little on the heavy side). I was surprised to find that drawer liners were included (bonus). I can find no faults with the cabinet, and expect it to last for years to come!
My only problem was with the home delivery, which was no fault of The Home Depot. I notified customer service and they addressed the problem to my satisfaction. They offered to discount the shipping charge, however, once I received the cabinets and they were undamaged, I did not feel comfortable getting a discount on something that I didn't earn. My advice is to purchase in your local store, or have it shipped to a store and pick it up there.
