Answer:
I used a standard 4" post, so I'm sure yours is fine. You will have to cut the post down. Had to cut mine down and it's sticking out of the ground 25 inches. See my pic in other response.

Answer:
no, you have too much above the ground, the manufacture says , "a standard 4” x 4” post cut to 48 inch length is adequate
for mounting your Step2 MailMaster mailbox with 24 inches in ground and 24 inches above ground", so unless you want to cut your post from 42" to 24", then you could use this.

Answer:
This mailbox fits (slides down) around a standard 4" post (see picture). I don't think there's a way to attach it to a 2 inch pole. You could probably screw it to the 2" pole, but not sure how well it will hold.

Answer:
No, this mailbox cannot be installed on a 2 inch wide pole. We recommend installing our Step2 mailboxes on a 4"x4" post.

One hole with a post hole digger, level check, 2 lag bolts driven with drill, install supplied letters, numbers, BOOM, prettiest mailbox on street. Even the mail lady loves it. Colors match my house Finnish. Sweetheart is VERY pleased. Happy wife ,happy life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is a great value and has durable features. I love this mailbox. Did not like the green roof and shutters, so I painted them along with the doors to match my house. I adore it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good heavy duty, looks good, wife likes it so I got points for it --- only thing we don't like is the back cover that covers the 4" X 4" post is dark green like the roof, it should be the beige color that the base is to blend in NOT STAND OUT. The instruction book even shows a matched color cover. Overall pleased with quality, price and looks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mailmaster Villager Standard Mailbox I love this mailbox. It's the most unique and attractive one on the street. I have had several people ask where I purchased it. Even my mailman made a comment. I must tell you that to install it was a cinch. I had a post that housed my other one and all we had to do was saw part of it off and put the new mailbox on top and bolt it - 15 minutes max. I never thought I would get excited about a mailbox, but I am.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One Importnt Point There is no cover on the back. I thought was missing a part and called. The wooden post shows on the back side. I had to order the piece at $8.65. They used to include it but now it's sold separately. I also painted the green roof (no big deal). My old one that was wiped out by the snow plow, just went over the post (easy). Just doesn't make sense, why they did this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect This matched my house. I just cut the old poll down with a hand saw an put the new one on top an bolted it down in the poll with the bolts they sent. I love different items an so fare im the only one on my Block with this one. I put flowers around the bottom to bring the life of it out. It opens on both side an it's big an sturdy. This tells alot about my character. Big an bold an fashionable....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Missing part Previous reviews product was missing rear post cover filler. Online instructions showed cover as part of product. Emailed inquiry to Home Depot asking about this. Email answer said instructions showed it. Upon arrival it was not included. Called Step 2 was advised this cover was discontinued on this product a yr ago. Could be purchased, but not in the color of my mailbox Very disappointing, Installed a mailbox that cannot be finished properly. Why do this? I suggest Home depot insist this Manufacturer update its online info.
