solid CORE door versus solid door?

Our remodel doorways now have an 8" radius cove at the top "corners" of the doorway. Any square slab door we buy, we have had to custom radius the corners. The last custom doors we ordered had a Styrofoam filler in the stiles, between the outer edge and the interior panel. This created more work, as we had to remove a portion of the Styrofoam and backfill with wood putty so we had a truly solid edge to paint/finish. Also, because we had to rip the stiles to properly fit the doorframe width, it gave less "meat" for the hinge screws to bite into which is worrisome if our grandkids should hang/swing on the doors, as kids will do. When we complained to the big-box store from whom we ordered, they said that it was because we ordered "solid core" doors, not solid doors. We TOLD them our plans, and it seems they conveniently ignored the fact that the interior Styrofoam would be exposed. On this door I'm asking about, with the center panel being glass, I would ASSUME that the stiles and rails would need to be solid wood all the way through, for safety. But we don't want to get burned again, so I hope that Steves and Son can directly assuage my concerns.

These doors have LVL (laminated veneered lumber) wood core stile and rails. My concern would be the 8" radious and how close it comes to the glass, dowels etc.

30 in. x 80 in. Modern Full Lite Solid Core Pine Reed Glass Interior Door Slab is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this door. Bought this to use with hanging barn door hardware to avoid the hassle of installing a pocket door on our bathroom remodel. So glad we did because this is a beautiful door and it becomes a part of our décor and not just a door (that you can't enjoy if it's hidden in the pocket). With little prep and a couple coats of poly, it's up and running. Solid wood and substantial glass all for a great price. My review title "Love this door" should actually read, Love love love this door.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from pretty enough, just broken Ordered online. When it finally came in. The wood was scuffed. To keep it, we would have had to use wood fill. Then upon taking it out of the box,one entire side of edge molding was off and the glass was coming out. After all the wait, very dissatisfied. I read this type of review but thought it was a one-off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Misleading Country of Origin Researching Steve & Sons claimed products were made in San Antonio, Texas. Unfortunately, this one came with a big MADE IN CHINA stamp on the bottom. Although the door is solid wood in comparions to the others made of composite and showed to be a better value, it was disappointing to be mislead as to the country of production.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Door but a minor flaw Door was great for the pocket installation in our bathroom. Unfortunately, the manufacturer drove the small brads through parts of the glass retaining molding. It was any easy fix with a nail gun. The door now looks great and works as we wanted.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problems …and then more problems The first door had to be returned as the edge of the door was badly damaged by either a strap or maybe the forklift? The second one had a small "dent" in the wood about the same place and the trim holding the glass in was coming loose on one side and had to be renailed. Ultimately when the door was installed and stained, it looked fine. The price on the door was less than any others that we found online and being seasoned diy-ers, we figured you get what you pay for and made it work!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good door just came with a minor annoyance This is a very well constructed door. I would have given it 5 stars but one of the glass stops fell off while taking it out of the box. It's not a big deal for me since I know how to fix it, it's just that it should not have happened. The brads were shot in too far pass the wood stop into the door itself. The manufacturer needs to take better quality control measures. Otherwise a very good door.
