The house is constructed of 8" D shaped (flat side faces interior) logs. The current pre-hung door is framed into an opening in the logs.

Answer:
This door has a 6 9/16 jamb, if the current jamb fits correctly i would think you may want to use a 5 1/4 inch jamb or be sure to check that a 6 9/16 will fit correctly

How do I protect my door from the elements. I realize there is a stain on the door but should I put something else on it to further protect the door.?

I am not crazy over polyurethane, someone suggested using this. Is there something else I should use?

The other thing is unfortunately, the door jam holes are not drilled in the right place to match up with the door. What can you do to fix this. We have already installed the door and then when we put in the door knob we saw that the holes do not match up.

Answer:
the door has a sealer applied during the pre finishing process. Re the jamb bores being misaligned, , first question would be is how far off are they? if a slight difference, first check to make sure the door is plumb and square and that the gap on the top and jamb side are equal the full length. The doors are aligned during the manufacturing process but do need to be leveled during the installation Read More

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gorgeous, high quality door. I purchased the chestnut stained version as a replacement for an 80 year old wooden front door. This is an absolutely beautiful, well-made, quality door. I was concerned about not being able to see one first, since they are online-order only, but my doubts were extinguished when I saw it being delivered in an enormous 2x4 framed crate by two delivery men. It looks much better in person than online, quite rich, with the dark warm chestnut stain. We are very happy with this wooden replacement, as we considered fiberglass and other materials. I hope it lasts 80 years like the original house door. Bottom line, it's probably worth double the selling price. Gorgeous door. July 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value as promised. The door was well packaged in a full crate protected by heavy foam. It even included a fully finished, pre-mitered mahogany casing which was not expected. My only complaint is there isn't enough of a gap in the threshold to sweep area. Even with the threshold adjustment at it's lowest level, it drags. I'm considering cutting a few of the sweep's rubber strips but doubt that would ideal. Could have been an easy thing to avoid and I'm surprised it was missed considering the workmanship and fit n' finish of the rest of the product. January 14, 2014
