PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Model # DHC 10-2

Internet # 203210886

Stiebel Eltron developed tankless electric water heating technology 90 years ago and continues as the industry pioneer and world leader. Our engineering and manufacturing tradition of excellence means you can depend on the performance and reliability of our products. Instead of storing hot water, DHC models are tankless, heating water instantaneously and endlessly as it flows through the unit. They are 99% efficient, and, unlike tank-type water heaters, have no stand-by energy losses. No venting is necessary, and the sleek, compact European design even allows for installation with the unit visible. DHC models are ideal for residential and commercial point-of-use sink applications including: bathrooms, cabins and cottages, office buildings, stores, malls, warehouses, restaurants, and gas stations. DHC models are sized based on the flow rate of the sink you are plumbing for hot water. The temperature of the hot water delivered by a DHC depends on the temperature of the incoming cold water, the water flow through the unit, and the size of the DHC model that is installed. DHC models excel at supplying water at a constant temperature rise but must be carefully matched to the application in order to operate properly. Refer to the DHC Sizing Guide and Temperature Rise Chart under 'More Views' to determine which model you need. Call Stiebel Eltron at 800.582.8423 if you have any sizing questions.

  • Professional installation recommended
  • DHC 10-2 tankless electric water heaters are designed to provide hot water for 1 medium-flow or high-flow lavatory, kitchen, or utility sink in Warm or Cool Climates
  • DHC 10-2 models require 208/240 volt electric service with 1 dedicated 40 amp breaker and 8 gauge copper wiring for 208 service or 1 dedicated 50 amp breaker and 8 gauge copper wiring for 240 service
  • DHC models excel at supplying water at a constant temperature rise but the model size must be carefully matched to the application in order to operate properly
  • Installation should be as close to your draw off point as possible to make the wait for hot water as short as possible and maximize energy savings
  • DHC tankless electric water heaters do not need pressure relief valves, drains, or circulating pumps
  • The sleek European design is considerably smaller than a tank, saving space and allowing flexibility to determine the best location for installation
  • DHC units must be installed vertically with the water fittings pointing down
  • DHC tankless water heaters are ETL Listed for compliance with CSA and UL safety standards in the US and Canada
  • Water connections for DHC water heaters are 1/2 in. NPT and should be detachable (such as braided steel flex connectors or isolation valves) to allow for easy servicing of the unit
  • DHC tankless electric water heaters are exempt from seismic code
  • Overheat safety protection and thermal protection reset are standard
  • See warranty for complete details of the 3-year residential and commercial warranty against defects in workmanship and materials under normal use

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job First, we have a whole house tankless so I knew what to expect. I put this one under the kitchen sink, and will be putting two more for the bathroom (a smaller one) and the washer. The unit goes in easy and does the job. We get hot water in about 5 seconds, and I expect a lot faster in the bathroom as the kitchen has a pull out nozzle, and so nearly 8' of pipe between the water heater and the output. My flow is was about 1.5gpm and its dropped to about 1.25gpm. Right now, the cold water is super cold at 40F. At full flow, the water is warm. Nice for hand washing. To make it hotter, we simply turn down the faucet a little and it gets quite warm, as warm as I'd want it. Here's a few comments and suggestions (if Stiebel reads these): 1) it'd be much nicer if the water connections were on the top. These things are designed to go under the sink, so having to get a longer flex-pipe to go to the bottom simply makes for a longer delay for warm water. 2) there's no clamp for the wiring, just a plastic hole and rubber grommet. I ran 6 gauge cable through liquid-tite conduit and didn't have any way of attaching the conduit on the water heater side other than just wedging it in the hole. Hopefully the inspector won't get on my case about it. 3) fair warning: and this is simply something that happens with electric tankless units: if you turn the hot water off, then wait a short bit, say under a few minutes, then turn it on again, a few seconds after it starts you'll get a pulse of really hot water. This is because when you shut off the water, the heating element is still hot and heats the now stationary water hotter than normal. March 9, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for my rental suite! I converted a small carriage house to a rental suite. Space is at a premium and I didn't want a hot water tank wasting a bunch of space. Did my research and decided on the Stiebel Eltron point of use on demand electric heater - don't have natural gas or propane. Installation was a snap! With a little tweaking of the set points of the heater and the restricter have endless hot water for the shower and galley kitchen. Great solution for a great price. Very impressed. Also installed a larger unit in my house - also very impressed. June 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for the price! It's actually worth more than what I paid for it, but am happy with the product. It gives a nice flow of hot water. We're using it connected to a kitchen sink and two bathroom sinks in our concession stand. We've never had hot water in this location before, and everybody is pleased with it so far. I did not install it, I had an electrician install because it took a 50amp breaker and I think it was either 6 or 8 gauge wire in conduit. Adjusting the temp was a snap. April 17, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Good Product Hooked into a small apartment with 1 occupant. Although it was easy to install I did run into 1 problem. When the shower was first used the water would go from cold to very hot over and over the entire time it was in use. Called customer service but they were no help as to why this could happen. He suggested not enough flow. I tested with only hot water and it would stay hot the whole time even with very little flow. At time of installation The splice from the cold supply was hooked to the water heater with only @ 5 in connection and then a short run to the shower hot valve. I changed the supply line to and from the heater and added about 9 feet between the input and the hot valve. Now with the hot valve on @ 3/4 flow the temp can be brought down to the correct temp by adding cold. It works great and I can't wait to see the savings on my electric bill. July 16, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good hot water! Worked as advertized. Provides plenty of hot water for a sink or even a shower. BUT, remember I live in south Texas where the water is not that cold to start with. August 14, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Instant hot water! Love it! Instant hot water, works better than electric water heater in the house. This went in my shop for washing poodles :) did have to upgrade electrical and have a dedicated 50 amp breaker. October 14, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fairly underpowered water heater I don't know how another electric tankless heater might compare. I can't used a heater that pulls more power--not enough supply from the panel--but this thing has to be throttled all the way down in order to produce hot water on demand. Mostly it just passes cold water through. April 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by top quality product installed quickly and worked as advertised laundry room with sink application September 25, 2013
