Product Overview

DHC-E 8/10 models are ideal for residential and commercial point-of-use sink applications including: bathrooms, cabins and cottages, office buildings, stores, malls, warehouses, restaurants, and gas stations. They are electronically controlled and can be set to deliver water at the temperature you need. They heat water instantaneously and endlessly at 99% efficiency as it flows through the unit. Because they do not store hot water like tank water heaters, they have no stand-by energy losses. Venting is not necessary and the compact European design can be installed with the unit visible. A DHC-E is considerably smaller than a tank, saving space and allowing flexibility to determine the best location for installation. The number of sinks a DHC-E can deliver hot water to depends on the temperature of the incoming cold water, the flow rate through the unit, whether supply voltage is 208 or 240, and which power output the unit is set to. Refer to the DHC-E Sizing Guide to determine which model you need. Call Stiebel Eltron at 800.582.8423 with any questions. Stiebel Eltron invented tankless electric water heating technology more than 90 years ago, and is still the industry pioneer and world leader today, with an engineering and manufacturing tradition of excellence.

power outages

does this need to be reset if I loose power.? Are there other circumstances that I may have to reset? What do I have to do in order to reset it.?
Asked by: dan
On a power outage you may need to reset the unit. If it is not working, shut your power off to the unit, remove the cover and press the reset button located on top of the copper tank. Replace the cover and turn your power back on. The reset can trip due to voltage spikes in your electric system or a violent thunderstorm may cause it to trip. In either case, you need to reset the button manually.

I installed this about four months ago to replace an ageing 40 gallon water heater. Our house had a gas heater at one end and the electric at the other, both running from cold water. I rearranged the plumbing to have this unit heat from the gas heated water source... so its in series with the gas heated supply. This enabled hot water faster at the far end of the house and measurably reduced electric consumption since hot water is not maintained in the old electric heater. So far it has worked flawlessly at the 40 Amp setting (had to replace the #10 wire with #6 and a new breaker due to the higher amperage... expensive!) and gives 120 degree output after a few seconds. Please be aware that this type of THERMOSTATICALLY REGULATED heater must be used when in series with pre-heated water, otherwise you have the potential of scaldingly hot water delivered once the preheated water is boosted! Note: the plumbing remains to the right in the photo for the old tank type water heater.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly happy Mostly happy. During a recent cold spell (high 20s to low 30s), the water was more on the very warm side rather than hot and the unit was maxing out (flashing led). Otherwise the unit produces very hot water very fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everthing we wanted We always had to run a lot of water to get hot water in the kitchen, for the water heater is at the other end of the house. We're using this unit as a supplement to warm the cold water in the pipe until the hot water from the main unit arrives. Now, we get hot water in a matter of seconds after running perhaps a cup of water. It is absolutely wonderful. Instructions were a little confusing, but installation only took a couple of hours, including running a new circuit to under the sink. The hardest part was laying under the sink to install. We would recommend this unit to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for southern regions and north also i'm sure I bought the DCH 10-2 2/3 years ago which is the cheaper model for the same size that I bought this time, I fought with it for over 2 yrs. Trying to get it too produce the right temp, (no problem in the winter), worked great. I live in what they call the southern region. (Alvarado Texas). The DCH 10-2 could not handle the high temps. To difficult to explain. The DCH-E 8/10 7.2/9.6 KW change me and my wife's lives when it came to a very good shower, the DCH-E 8/10 will control the water temp electronically not by relays. If I lived in the North I probably would not have ever notice a problem with the first model we bought. Bill

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, works as advertised Great solution to having the kitchen sink very far from the water heater. Instant hot water but then it shuts off when the hot water finally gets to the sink. Installation is straight forward. Wiring is challenging through the strain relief, needs to be wider to handle the recommended wire size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! I spent a lot of time researching tankless water heater for my kitchen sink and finally decided on this one. It works great and is exactly what I needed to always have hot water for my kitchen sink. I like that I can set the maximum temperature I want the water to reach.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product Unit is compact and easy to install. Heats perfectly. I put a small valve in the cold water line to help regulate the flow to ensure adequate heating. I liked it so much I bought a second one for another location
