Product Overview

Stiebel Eltron developed tankless electric water heating technology almost 90 years ago and continues as the industry pioneer and world leader. Our engineering and manufacturing tradition of excellence means you can depend on the performance and reliability of our products. Instead of storing hot water, Mini Series models are tankless, heating water instantaneously and endlessly as it flows through the unit. They are 99% efficient, and, unlike tank-type water heaters, have no stand-by energy losses. No venting is necessary, and the sleek, super-compact design even allows for installation with the unit visible. Mini models are ideal for residential and commercial point-of-use hand-washing sink applications including: bathrooms, cabins and cottages, office buildings, stores, malls, warehouses, restaurants, and gas stations. Mini models are sized based on the flow rate of the sink you are plumbing for hot water. The temperature of the hot water delivered by a Mini depends on the temperature of the incoming cold water, the water flow through the unit, and the size of the Mini model that is installed. Mini models excel at supplying water at a constant temperature rise but must be carefully matched to the application in order to operate properly. Refer to the Mini Sizing Guide and Temperature Rise Chart under 'More Views' to determine which model you need. Call Stiebel Eltron at 800.582.8423 if you have any sizing questions.

  • Professional installation recommended
  • Mini 2 tankless electric water heaters are designed to provide warm water around 90 to 100 degrees F for hand washing at 1 ultra-low-flow (.32 gpm) sink
  • Mini 2 models require 120 volt electric service, 1 dedicated 20 amp breaker, and 12 gauge copper wiring
  • Mini 2 models are internally restricted to a 0.32 gpm flow rate and are shipped with 0.5 gpm pressure compensating flow reducer/aerators that fit on most faucets and should be installed
  • The Nichrome (nickel-chromium) bare-wire heating element in all Mini Series models is controlled by a flow switch to prevent dry-firing and failure, and is additionally equipped with a safety high-limit with manual reset
  • Mini Series tankless water heaters were meticulously engineered in Germany and are manufactured in the US with great care and with the best available materials to provide years of trouble-free service
  • Installation should be as close to your draw off point as possible to make the wait for hot water as short as possible and maximize energy savings
  • Mini tankless electric water heaters do not need pressure relief valves, drains, or circulating pumps
  • The super-compact design is considerably smaller than even a mini-tank, saving space and allowing flexibility to determine the best location for installation
  • Mini tankless electric water heaters are exempt from seismic code and must be installed vertically with the water fittings pointing either up or down
  • Mini tankless water heaters are ETL Listed for compliance with CSA and UL safety standards in the US and Canada
  • See warranty for complete details of the 3-year residential and commercial warranty against defects in workmanship and materials under normal use

Mini 2 1.8 kW Point-of-Use Tankless Electric Water Heater is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product designed for hand washing only Stiebel Eltron’s Minis are as high quality as the rest of their products but don’t expect to get them to do more than what they were designed for. All the Minis are designed to provide warm (not HOT) water at a sink for hand washing. Don’t expect to hook one up to a shower. They will not work for that purpose. The smallest model is even restricted to very low flow rates, and all but the largest Mini (that sounds funny) come with flow restrictor/aerators that MUST be used on your faucet. Again they are designed for warm water for hand washing, so be careful to size them for the type of sink you have (and pay attention to the voltage requirements). Also these units are designed to last. They will not burn out like some that shall remain nameless.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not work in low pressure situations I was looking for a heater for a low-flow, low pressure installation. (Off-grid solar cabin with rainwater catchment.) The specifications say it needs a minimum of .32 GPM to operate. However, though not stated anywhere in the specifications, (and after calling tech support) I find it also needs a minimum of 30 psi. The unit itself feels very solid and well built, but I can't say how it works, because it did not work. Now I know... call Steibel Eltron before buying any of their products, they will make sure you get the right product for your application.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not mentioned in the purchase literature Could not use this product because of a water restrictor that had to fit my existing faucet. This was not mentioned in the online specifications. I was not willing to replace my faucet because it was brand new and quite expensive so I returned my online purchase to my local Home Depot store hassle-free. Otherwise, it would have been a good value.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I expected We've always had to run the water in the kitchen for an extended time to get HOT water. During our kitchen renovation, we decided to have an on-demand hot water heater installed. After the professional installation, the water pressure was dismal. The water heater works, but we are getting less than a quarter of gallon pressure per minute. We chose to disconnect the water heater. The water heater is not defective, but the manufacturer's promises are deceptive. The water output indicated 2.3 gallons per minute. However, this is maximum under ideal conditions. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from disatisfied It all sounds like a good idea when you read the stats of the product but it really doesn't get very hot. Hoping the health board approves the heat or it's back to the drawing board to find a product that can produce heat at 110 volts.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from sad Installed in just a few Minutes. Water barely warm. Been in 2 weeks now and I removed it today. the unit leaked inside the cabinet. Not the install. The unit itself leaked
