Product Overview

An SHC Mini-Tank Water Heater excels at supplying hot water as a stand-alone supply of hot water, or in-line as a booster to a hot water tank. It can be used in food trucks and recreational vehicles, or as a buffer in a DHW recirculation loop. It saves water and electricity by putting hot water right where it is needed. The small tank and excellent insulation reduces stand-by losses compared with larger tank water heaters. Used in conjunction with a hot water tank it allows immediate hot water draws without waiting for a long pipe run to purge itself of cold water. Lightweight and compact, an SHC easily mounts under or near a sink with its included bracket. Once filled with water, it simply plugs into a 120-Volt outlet. No special wiring is required. A T and P valve is pre-installed. A world leader in advanced water heating technology since 1924, Stiebel Eltron’s engineering excellence and high-quality manufacturing results in products fulfilling the highest expectations of performance and reliability.

Answer:
1300 watts (1300 volt/amperes) at 120 volts will draw 10.8333 amperes. A 15 amp breaker is more than enough for this unit. Simply divide the watts (1300) by the volts (120) to get your answer. The only exception would be if the unit were located at an extremely long distance from the source (breaker panel); it would have to be at least 100 feet or more for this to apply. I have previously used Ariston POU water heaters which needed the anode replaced every 2 years and still they leaked after 6 years of use. Does it use the same replacement anode? I found those on Amazon.

Answer:
Replacing an anode is not necessary for most situations. The purpose of the anode is to attract minerals which are in the water. You might be referring to the heating element and that would be dependent on the hardness of the water, use and temperature setting. If your heater stops heating, go to the plumbing section of Home Depot and they can help you with the right element. Also, another thing that Read More

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great small water heater We installed this water heater in one of our buildings that is not used very often. It's perfect for our needs there since we don't need it for showering; we will only use it to wash our hands and knives. I plan to leave it unplugged until we need to use hot water. The installation was quick and easy.. The unit heats the water quickly, too. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Instant Hot Water The heater was simple to install and provides instant hot water to our kitchen sink. However the small capacity does not provide sufficient hot water for a kitchen. We chose it because the long run from our house water heater meant running the hot water faucet for a long time before hot water actually reached the sink. Now we have instant hot water (a good thing) but within less than a minute the hot water is back to cool as the 2 1/2 gallons is quickly cooled by the incoming water. Would work great for washing hands and small quantities but not for a sink full of dishes. Heater works great but not for what I had intended. February 10, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Only lasted 14 mos This unit only lasted 14 months before failing and flooding my office. Thankfully it was still under warranty and Home Depot gave me credit to purchase a different brand as a replacement. April 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised I bought this unit because it's advertised as being made in Germany. Installation took me about three hours. Half that was cutting a hole in the wall and running a drain pipe through it to the outside (per plumbing code); the other half was jockeying the unit around in the limited space to accommodate the fixed-length non-replaceable faucet hot water supply line. Now that it's all in place, it works just great--no leaks, no complaints. Pros: * Lower amperage than most; I can run the dishwasher from the same circuit while the unit heats water. * The light on front tells me when it's heating, unlike some other units out there that don't have indicators. Cons: * Larger size than some comparable units. * TPR valve comes out the top, requiring extra work to plumb the TPR valve around the top of the unit and down the side. To be fair, all other comparable units I viewed have the same configuration. February 1, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Water tastes metalic Metallic taste in water My husband installed it well. We like the hot water. However the water has a metallic taste. Upon the advice of the manufacturer he returned it and installed another. Same problem -- metallic taste to water! Any suggestions. January 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Product failed one day after installation. College Place store replaced with new unit which has lasted over three weeks so far. I have selected water heaters twice and done installation prep. When I returned to the store to purchase the model I had selected had been discontinued. November 10, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stiebel Eltron 2.5 gal electric water heater Great little heater that is working perfectly for our little bar area sink. Fits well in the cabinet and doesn't use much room. Hoping it will last many years. Delivered in perfect condition, would purchase again. July 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Puts hot water where you need it. I got this to provide quick hot water at the kitchen sink. The sink is far from the water heater in the garage and the pipes run through the foundation so it takes a long time for the hot water to get to the sink and it's not that hot when it does get there. The electrical circuit to the sink island was not adequate for a tankless heater so I opted for this heater. So far it provides very hot water right away and, as long as you don't use the water too prodigiously it makes rinsing dishes etc. easier. The recovery time is pretty quick although I have not timed it. Be aware that it has a overtemp/overpressure relief valve that, if actuated will release water. I plumbed it to a receptacle that can handle a quart or so. If the valve should actuate and not reset as it is supposed to...... Well, it could be messy. March 12, 2015
