About This Product

An SHC Mini-Tank Water Heater excels at supplying hot water as a stand-alone supply of hot water, or in-line as a booster to a hot water tank. It can be used in food trucks and recreational vehicles, or as a buffer in a DHW recirculation loop. It saves water and electricity by putting hot water right where it is needed. The small tank and excellent insulation reduces stand-by losses compared with larger tank water heaters. Used in conjunction with a hot water tank it allows immediate hot water draws without waiting for a long pipe run to purge itself of cold water. Lightweight and compact, an SHC easily mounts under or near a sink with its included bracket. Once filled with water, it simply plugs into a 120-Volt outlet. No special wiring is required. A T and P valve is pre-installed. A world leader in advanced water heating technology since 1924, Stiebel Eltron's engineering excellence and high-quality manufacturing results in products fulfilling the highest expectations of performance and reliability.

Don’t leave the store w/o discharge pipe, etc
Anything that comes in a box you can carry with one arm should include everything needed to make it operational out of the box. It does not.

Sorry to hear you are having an issue. If you are talking about the pipe for the T&P valve, there are multiple ways to run it into a drain. We couldn't possibly put all connections in the box. Hopefully it was an easy installation. JGMasterSTELogin
            Perfect for a sink
Our master bath was at the other end of the house to our water heater and took 3 mins to get hot water to the sink. I installed this water heater, which was super simple, pluged into outlet and connected the water lines...instant hot water!! This is the 4 gallon heater, glad I didnt choose the 2 gallon option because when you turn on the hot water tap, the cold water from the main house line starts to push up the hot water out of the heater and into the sink, so you get about 2 gallons of hot water before the water in the tank starts to get colder and colder coming out the tap.

Only drawback is the height. This water heater is a little taller than most. To make this work in the vanity under a sink, the bottom of the cabinet had to be cut out.

Quality product at a fair price. T&P valve, anticorrosion anode rod and 6 yr warrantee included. Nice looking and was able to install in cabinet under kitchen sink even with extra deep sink. Unit requires 11.3 amps which allowed me to power unit plus an existing 6.5 amp instant hot water unit on the same available 20 amp outlet. Unit supplies hot water to kitchen sink and dishwasher. Only downside is max water temp is 122 deg F not 140 as stated in specs. But 122 deg F is safe for kitchen use.

Great little water heater. It installed easily and heats up really fast. The recovery time from totally cold to 125 degree thermostat setting is about 3o minutes.

Excellent, compact solution, but sprang a leak in about 2 years. It's great not having to wastefully "run the water, to get it hot". Not sure if it's worth it, money-wise, at this price (considering the electricity too), but the convenience of instant hot water is fantastic. Bonus tip - I plugged it in through a heavy-duty timer, so when I'm at work, it's not cycling on and off all day, saving even more.

                  So far,so good.
This product line is new to the market so time will tell if it develops issues like some other point-of-use heaters, but it's German made and it looks and feels well made with tight tolerances and quality materials. I checked beforehand to see if the heating element and sacrificial anode were readily available and reasonably priced but I couldn't find them at this time. It's difficult to tell from the photos and dimensions, but this unit is actually round. I assumed it was box shaped and was worried about clearance from the drain under the cabinet, but it turned out to be a comfortable fit. It looks like a miniature standard water heater with a flattened back for flush mounting. It comes with a bracket for hanging on the wall. If you take it apart, the directions say to remove the dial first, but you can't remove the dial until you've separated the two halves of the cover, then you have to remove the dial to get the two halves back together properly, then snap the dial back on. In hindsight, the only thing I'd do differently is use a 3/8 line instead of 1/2 to run from the heater to the faucet in order to get hot water even faster. Don't get me wrong, it takes about 1 second to get hot water now instead of 90 seconds and 2-3 wasted gallons, I'm just a nit-pickety perfectionist with 20/20 hindsight. Speaking of plumbing, don't forget the additional cost of hardware. I capped my hot water line under the sink, split the cold water to the faucet and the water heater, and split the hot water to the faucet and dishwasher. 2 straight adapters to thread on to the WH, 3-Tee's, 2-quick disconnect elbows, 1-elbow for pressure relief line, 2-5' PEX pipes, clamps, and some thread compound ran nearly $100 over the cost of the WH, and that's not including the cost of a pipe clamp crimper if you don't have access to one.

It works great, and is very quiet. We get instant hot water to our kitchen sink and dishwasher. This is the perfect solution for the problem we were having, which was having to let the water run for minutes before hot water showed up at the sink.
