Stiebel Eltron developed tankless electric water heating technology 90 years ago and continues as the industry pioneer and world leader. Our engineering and manufacturing tradition of excellence means you can depend on the performance and reliability of our products. Our Tempra models are whole house tankless electric water heaters, never wasting energy storing hot water, but delivering it as you need it, for as long as you need it. The compact design needs no venting, allowing installation close to your draw off points, making your wait for hot water as short as possible and maximizing your energy savings. Tempra tankless water heaters are sized based on the number of bathrooms and your climate. Refer to the Tempra Sizing Guide under 'More Views' to determine which model you need. Call Stiebel Eltron at 800.582.8423 if you have high flow showers, or any sizing questions. Tempra water heaters supply water at a constant temperature from 86 to 140 degrees F that is settable on the front panel. We recommend setting the actual highest temperature you use, typically 107 degrees F for a shower. Tempra Plus models incorporate an Advanced Flow Control that automatically reduces flow to deliver water at the set point if demand exceeds capacity. Regular Tempra models do not have this feature and should be considered if this is not of concern. Tempra 12 models provide hot water for 1 bathroom in warm climates. See the Tempra Sizing Chart for help.

  • Professional installation recommended
  • Tempra 12 models require 208 or 240 volt electric service, with a maximum draw of 9,000 watts at 208 volts or 12,000 watts at 240 volts
  • A minimum of 100 amp total services to the residence is necessary, with 1 separate 60 amp breaker and 6 gauge copper wiring for the Tempra 12
  • Tempra tankless electric water heaters are 99% efficient and typically result in savings of 15-20% in comparison with electric tank-type water heaters
  • The sleek European design is considerably smaller than a tank, saving space and allowing flexibility to determine the best location for installation

  • Tempra tankless water heaters are ETL Listed for compliance with CSA and UL safety standards in the US and Canada
  • Water connections for Tempra water heaters must be detachable (such as braided steel flex connectors) to allow periodic filter cleaning, including flushing for scale if hard water is present

  • Tempra tankless electric water heaters are exempt from seismic code
  • See warranty for complete details of the 3-year residential and commercial warranty against defects in workmanship and materials under normal use

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for limited space Was not very hard to install. The flow of hot water seems to be enough for showering. We have a 1200 sq ft 2nd home with 1 shower and more than likely not run washer and dishwasher at same time. Not sure on the light bill yet. We also put a filter system in because it was recomended with well water. Works great for our needs. February 11, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nice simple, well build, works good, easy to install... September 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install. Provides ample hotwater and does not use electircity all the time to keep your water hot in a tank. This was my first tankless hotwater heater and found it easy to install. I have it set at 126 degrees so I can cut it back with cold water. I have a long run (53 ft) from one end of the house to the other so I purchase a second hotwater to eliminate the long wait for the hot water to reach the kitchen and guest bath. The thing to keep in mind is that it will put out 2.3 gal per min. If you are demanding more, the flow is cut back because it only has the set amount of 2.3 gal per min. If you are on a well, I would recommend some type of filter in your water line before it reaches your heater. May 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth The Cost Researched tankless unit for awhile, but when my water heater finally went out, I had to decide and I decided on the Tempra 12. Cost more than I planned to install it but I think it was worth it. Even the electrician was amazed by the unit. September 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very simple, efficient for low-altitude cities I've never installed a water heater before, and was able to do it in a couple hours. Installation is fast and simple, and I ended up with no leaks and a cheap, endless supply of hot water. I would strongly recommend it as a replacement for your 30-40 gallon tank May 8, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by this tempra has saved me so much money on my electric as well as my oil bill I had no clue how much money this small product would save me! until I got my electric bill. Then not needing to call for oil to heat my water was a dream come true. IT WORKS<< WAY Beyond what is advertised, a must to own and simple to install. your a winner in my book. August 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is a wonderful unit. This is a wonderful unit. Since I have really cold ground water, it takes a little longer to heat the water in the winter but well worth the wait. I have not had it long eonugh to see the savings but look forward to it. January 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Did Not Meet Expectations Was easy to install with exception of running new electric. Is installed in a 2 bedroom 1 bath apt with washing machine. Its specifications allege to handle this situation as a "whole house" hot water heater. All except bathing works well. In the bathtub, the water cycles between hot to very cold. It can be controlled somewhat by reducing the water volume. It works fine for taking a shower and maintains temperature but not for filling the tub for a bath. December 4, 2013
