DOES THIS UNIT REQUIRE A 220 LINE TO OPERATE?

MY HOUSE CURRENTLY HAS A 150AMP SERVICE!
Asked by: REFEREE
Generally, if you have a 150 service then the largest Tempra unit you could install would be the Tempra 20 Plus which can draw up to 80 amps of current. It would require 2 separate 220-240 volt circuits that would be wired separately back to you electric panel.

wiring

im planning to install the tempra 24 plus I already have the 6 gauge 3 wires and I have a doble pole 60 amp breaker in a 200 amp panel but the instuctions is confuse say need two separate 60 amp breakers and the picture show a two doble pole breaker and 5 wires any one already buy and install this particular model? thanks
Asked by: alex
You do need two breakers. I did not install mine, but I have worked on it and there are two 60amp breakers with five wires, not three. I would recommend hiring an electrician for the install.

Is Tempra 24 Plus more than is needed

I have upstairs bathroom only that I'm going to get elec tankless water heater for. I want quality but I wonder if the Tempra 24 Plus is more water heater than needed for this purpose.
Asked by: Rabbit
Probably not more than is needed. It depends on where you are located and how cold your incoming water is in the winter. Also, the Tempra 24 Plus can draw up to 100 amps. Your electric supply must be a min 200 amp service and you should have an electrician do a review of other connected electrical devices.

can this unit be installed in a manufactured home?

Asked by: elvis
Outside of any local code considerations there is no reason you can't install this in a manufactured home. In addition to endless hot water you will also gain back a lot of space your tank water heater occupies now.

I just purchased this unit to replace a Tempra 24 first generation model from 8 years ago. If I had taken proper care and flushed the system as recommended I would not have needed to replace it. I think this unit works great and with proper care of my new one (with valves for maintenance) I expect it to last for many years to come.

Unfortunately, the water in our city is highly corrosive and has destroyed the internal parts. Steibel Eltron's customer service was unexpectedly amazing! They were more than willing to help, even when the product was out of warranty. Great company with great employees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 24 Plus installed in N Texas as part of a remodel of our kitchen, we replaced our 40 gallon tank water heater with the 24 Plus. The closet where the tank style heater was located will now be much needed pantry space. I did have to upgrade my electrical panel to get the 2 50 amp breakers for the required 220 power requirements. This was the most expensive part of this phase of our kitchen remodel. I hired an electrical contractor, and a plumber. The plumber came the next day after the power lines were dropped into the closet. The install did require a city inspection, and the work was passed. after installation, I gave the unit a test that exceeded the limits of what was recommended by the manufacturer. u started both the dishwasher and the washer with each set to 'hot'. I then took a shower. the water flow was restricted so the unit could try to hit the 114 degrees that I had preset the unit to. I was pleased to have water for my shower that was close to the desired temperature. The documentation on the website and in the manual did not suggest using 3 hot water draws attention same time and expect for the unit to keep up. It came really close to doing that. Both my wife and I have been totally satisfied with the shower temperature when using only 1 or 2 showers at the same time. Very satisfied with this purchase. Home Depot's price was the same as the best price on Amazon, and the site pick up option was just what I needed to avoid an unattended delivery

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water Heater Our home was built2 years ago and we used 2 Rheem tank less water heaters. They never kept up the demand especially in the winter. We bought the stiebel and it's perfect for our home. No lapse in heat and easy installation. The stiebel is worth double its cost and we would recommend it to anybody.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase Ever The hardest part with Installation is running the new power wires. But unless you are an electrician you should probably hire one to run the wires anyway. I just bought this new one for my mother. I have had this in my house for 2 years and it has paid for itself in that time with saved electricity money. If you have well water, install an inline filter before the water inlet to keep your heater working great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good whole house unit This larger unit took the place of a point of use unit I mistakenly had put in, based on many positive reviews of people using it for the entire house. The smaller unit didn't deliver the hot water I was used to getting with two hot water tanks. I had it replaced and this unit professionally installed. The electrician and the contractor were impressed with this unit, and so was I when I got the hot water I have come to expect. The contractor was impressed that the unit is German-made, rated for a 2 bathroom home in a cooler climate, and designed for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. What's not to like about that? I'm very pleased with my purchase, which should handle any hot water needs I have for years to come.

I would be on hold, and they would hang up. Finally got to a point where I could leave a message but still have not heard back from them. Very poor customer service. Hopefully the product works better than their customer service
