How do I switch the stinger back from blower to vacuum? Whatever I vacuum up just blows out blower hole

Asked by: shaina
If the vacuum is sucking from one side and debris is coming out the other, you probably have no filter or a torn filter. keep in mind that the stinger won't do fine dust like drywall dust -and in fact using a stinger to suck up fine debris will ruin the motor. If you want a better vac, I'd recommend something like the "Shopvac Haweye" 5 gallon. It is SO much better, but it is bigger and it does cost more. I personally hate my stinger as being nearly useless. (I'm an electrician and have tried a lot of shopvacs)

Customer Reviews

2.5 gal. 1.75-Peak HP Compact Wet Dry Vac is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 330.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from lightweight, compact, good suction. Great value. I have a 5 gallon Rigid for big jobs, but it is... lightweight, compact, good suction. Great value. I have a 5 gallon Rigid for big jobs, but it is so heavy and large that I hated using it on small jobs, especially lugging it up stairs. For me, an older lady, Stinger is perfect for getting dust and spiders out of corners, drawers, easy for me to carry around. I took someone's advice to put a nylon net (or old piece of ladies nylon stocking) over the filter, making it even easier to clean. Have had it only a month, maybe can update this review in a year if Stinger is still working well. Husband likes that all the pieces (hose, accessories snap onto the vacuum itself to make a single tidy item.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It can spray out the exhaust When picking up dry materials - 5 stars. Liquids - 1 star. Pros: Light, powerful enough, easy to clean. The Big Con: My wife spilled latex paint on the rug: A lot of paint. We poured a lot if water on the paint and used the vac to clean it up. Good news, it did a good job. The rug wasn't damaged. The bad news, the vac created a fine spray out the exhaust and 'painted' things behind the vac. Of course, it wasn't detected until the rug was cleaned and we had more work to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of Suction This little guy really sucks. And that's a good thing! Seriously, I was quite astonished at the power of the suction. The hose is short and at first I was wishing it were longer. However, the unit is very light and has a handle; so you can simply carry it in one hand and hold the hose in the other. So whether the hose is too short or not I think comes down to personal preference. Bought one for work, will be getting another one for home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact but strong Love my new little stinger! I had to clean stagnant water out of a drain pipe and thankfully it did the job in a cinch. It's strong and I really liked the feature that when picking up liquids and the container is full it will stop suctioning on its own so you cant overfill the tank. If you are picking up a lot of liquid you may want to go for a bigger unit but if you don't mind emptying it out a few times it's a great deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing sucks! This things sucks, all right! You put the hose to nearly anything and the vacuum gobbles it right up. I've had at least two of these things and I beat the daylights out of them in my house, garage, and in my boats. I'm surprised they last as long as they do! If you are planning on normal usage, this could last for 10-yrs.
