I have had a pneumatic cap nailer in the past and if you are going to be using this day after day after day, the pneumatic nailer is the one for you. However, If you just have a small job to do or a one time job to do this product can save you time and also money. I am building a shop and needed to put the roofing paper down as well as the tyvek on the walls. My shop is 36' x 48'. My wife and I used this to put the roofing paper down and it took us 2 hours. If I had to put the caps on manual with my hammer, I am sure it would have taken twice as long. There are some quirks with this cap hammer, but if you take the time to understand how it works and have a little patience with it then it will do well for you. The caps come in a coil and are attached to each other with a fine line of plastic. If that breaks between two caps you for sure will have wasted at least one cap. The cap advancer is the lever on the bottom. You must pull that lever before each swing in order to advance the cap. The design flaw here is that the advance mechanism advances the caps at the front end of the hammer instead of at the back end. So when the coil breaks between two caps it won't advance the roll anymore, creating down time. The staple part of the unit seems to work pretty good. Only once did I have that malfunction and then I realized I was just out of staples. Theoretically the staple count and the coil of caps are equal in number. My experience was that once you had been using it for awhile and had the mishaps on the caps, then the staples outlasted the caps. So the problem I encountered was it is very difficult to reload the staples if you have a roll of caps in position. You need to remove the coil of caps in order to reload staples. This saved me time and money, but I would not want to use it every day. My finger got very tired pulling the lever back each time. It would be great if they designed it to advance automatically just like the staples do.

Beats using a hammer, but the rolls of caps tend to separate on the roll, so you end up reloading frequently. Every time you do so, you have to waste a cap of two. Basically a good concept, they just need to work out a few bugs. Still, for the price it dies the job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent product The stapler is adequate, only issue is with the plastic caps. They tend to break apart in the roll chamber. Then you must stop and re-feed them through. Don't a big deal , more of a minor annoyance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stinger cap hammer Makes applying caps a lot easier but caps do not always break free resulting in lots of waste and additional cost

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of Junk Have a friend who has one and it seemed to work well putting roofing felt down, so I got one. Bad move. Well for the plastic tabs is cheap plastic and metal clip to keep in place falls out regularly. Will not feed tabs as supposed to. Poor design on refeeding staples since it requires you to move tabs out of the way. Taking back to store.
