I purchased this tub surround 4 years ago. There is not a caulk out there that I can get to stick for more than a few months. I have used tub and tile caulk of many kinds and find that it only peals after a few months. Silicone same story. ..nothing sticks and I'm getting frustrated. ..and yes I have properly cleaned all the old caulk and or silicone before re caulking. Nothing works

My walls weren't perfectly plumb and it worked fine. If you are talking about the walls being off half an inch or the tub not level etc, then yes you can trim the panels to accommodate those differences. My back wall was pretty much level, but the sides sloped down by about 3/8 of an inch over 30 inches, so I had to trim the side panels so they would be level along the top and still fit close to the tub. Hi deejobob,
Thank you for your question about the Sturdifit 5-Piece Easy Up Adhesive Tub Wall. Your wall should be as plumb as possible, however, there may be adjustment that can be made to the panels to allow them to sit better, if the corners are not square, we would not recommend installing this.
Thanks,
Nick

My tub already has sliding shower doors installed. I'd like to replace the existing tub surround with the SturdiFit. Do you recommend removing the shower doors before installing the new tub surround?

But, you could just re-caulk the door frame next to these walls. These walls were so straight and flat along the side edges that the door frame could easily butt up against these Sturdifit walls for a tight fit with new caulking. Really depends on the the size you're trying to fit and if there is old plastic tub wall that goes under your shower door. Read Less

Answer:
Hi CAShopper,
The shower doors will have to be removed prior to installation.
If the doors are not removed you will have to cut the new wall panels and they will not cover the entire opening allowing the old wall material to show around the doors.
In addition sealing the wall to the doors will be much more difficult.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean looking I have purchased about 12 so far for my rentals, They are clean, looking easy to install and price is pretty good. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent This is a very sturdy product. First tried to install with liquid nails that was a total waste of time and money. Walls fell right down. After everything was re-cleaned, installed very easily with Gorilla construction adhesive and held with masking tape. Looks beautiful. July 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value I installed this surround over a day, and then caulked the seams the next day. I used Loctite Tub Surround, which stuck great and will hopefully stay that way. Seams were sealed with Dap 3.0 kitchen and bath because I read that was the only caulk that sticks to this plastic. Although harder to work with (requires liberal use of mineral spirits for tooling and sets up rapidly) it seems to be sticking quite well and should be durable. Installation was relatively easy, I took my time because my walls were not square. Panels seem thicker and more substantial than similar priced units. I don't like how the seams are designed because they allow some movement if pressed on, which over time could make the caulking fail. It's not a huge deal, but if I were to do it again I might put some compressible weather or stripping or something in there to reduce the flex. All in all I'm quite happy with the end product and I think it looks as good as a 5 piece surround can look. June 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great surround. This surround is the best I've ever used, that would be around 5 of them. It went up easy, the instructions are clear and it's thick. Helps conceal small imperfections in your wall, we put up sheetrock and there were some small imperfections that the surround hid well. I was installing a 32" whirlpool tub most surrounds are for the standard 30" tub. this one is somewhat adjustable making it easy to fit different sized tubs. I used Power Grab Tub Surround Construction Adhesive and didn't need to put up supports, it grabbed great. March 10, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, great value, need to use right caulk Bought for guest bathroom, easy to install with construction adhesive. Nice thick panels. Edges of panels are a bit rough. I agree with other reviewers that an included trim kit would have been nice. Instructions recommend 100% silicone caulk to seal joints between tub wall and tub. However, 100% silicone caulk doesn't stick but instead peels cleanly off the joints even weeks later. Wrote to manufacturer customer support and they replied, " "Unfortunately we do not recommend any particular brand of caulk. We would only recommend using an Advanced Kitchen and Bath Polymer sealant. We have discovered that neither the acrylic/silicone blend or the 100% silicone work as well." I tried DAP 3.0 Kitchen Bath and Plumbing High Performance Sealant, and it works great. It's not silicone, but instead a low odor polymer sealant. Aside from the adventure with caulking (and re-caulking), recommend this product. March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Budget Friendly updating. Now these panels are actually pretty great. They are light, thick, and score & snap pretty easily. When looking for a budget friendly shower/tub update, these are awesome. I attached them to a sub wall of masonry, using construction adhesive. They look good and should last quite some time. An optional trim kit would make them all the much better. I would recommend to anyone looking to update their shower walls and who do not want tile. March 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A lot better than expected This is the best tub surround we have purchased in the past 45 years. No need for a trim kit around edges if you just put a small bead of caulk around tub and walls smoothed out with your finger looks great. Caulking was part of my profession for 30 years February 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very glossy, look great as a tub wall upgrade or replacement, but needs trim Really good looking walls with nice shelving though a bit narrow. These replaced some very old, dirty plastic walls and these new ones are a much thicker and nicer looking quality. The only problem is that you really should purchase some plastic trim for the walls as they look very unfinished and sharp otherwise. I used a rounded plastic thin white trim which made the walls look so much better at the end. Also the trim covered the last bit of walls that needed covering when my plumber removed the old walls. The walls needed a bit more acrylic than the box recommended (one more tub should do it) and the top edges left ledges which would have collected water. The trim helped reduce that (see photo for trim around top and sides that was purchased separately and added). Walls are so glossy, they act as mirrors almost and make it look super clean and bright in the tub area which I liked a lot. I was also able to install grab bars on top without cracking, dents or tears. The glossiness though does show water spots so using a squeegee after use helps prevent that. February 17, 2015
